Biography

Hip Hop producer/beat maker 5th Sequence thrives for originality. In an oversaturated music scene were many claim they have what it takes and hype thier own skills, 5th Sequence humbly sits back in the mix and lets the music speak for itself. The portland born producer whos real name is Brandon Johnson, draws influence from the likes of DJ Premier, Pete Rock, ATQ and Da Beatminerz. 5th grew up around a lot of music as every other aspiring producer has. His father kept his old soul/R&B records in rotation with the jazz station which has played a huge role in the overall smoothness of 5th's work. Equipped with an increasing stash of records, turntables, FL Studio and an akai S950, 5th Sequence is determined to bring some soul back into the hip hop production scene. Currently, 5th Sequence is non-exclusively signed to Hitz Studios in New Jersey while still making beats for various artist albums and projects. You will be able to hear some of 5th's work on Divine Allah's upcomming 2007 album release ("Dark Abyss" is the track name), Flow Tope and Prems upcomming album, Big Griffs hip hop mixtape and a Hitz Studio exclusively produced remix album. 5th Plans to work with several local artists as well as other national and international artists in the near future.

Comments: Hey bro, thanks for the feedback. It is much appreciated. I do sample and layer drums off vinyl actually. I sample them through a 12bit sampler as well, which seems to make the sounds thin in a way unless I pitch them down a bit and EQ. It all depends on the source, but I do a lot of layering.

Actually i'm really glad you're loving my beat this entry lol... I thought I had overdone it and I wasn't too happy with it by the time I was finished. Thanks for hitting me up about it though!!!

I'll definitely get you some feedback when your stuff comes up here on illmuzik.
