It is just another sound module. Meaning you can hook it up to your keyboard workstation and get sounds from the EMU MO'Phatt. I heard its pretty good for hip-hop based production.

Yeah that's exactly what it is - a sound module. Here's some links to check out:

thanks guys, it looks pretty dope. Would a midi keyboard opperate it or would ypu need something like a korg triton?

A basic MIDI keyboard will work just fine. All you want to do is access the sounds on the sound module. The difference with the Triton is that it has sounds with it and it's MAD expensive. A good MIDI controller will run you around $100 if you look around.

midisport 2x2 usb - around 70 or even better oxygen 8 (130 bucks) with integrated midi out.
thatīs the way i do it and it works fine

great, thanks for the info. I just bought an Oxygen 8 off ebay, should be getting it in a couple of weeks.

you should also try to look for sample cds with those sounds. much cheaper and easier to handle. i personally have bought sample cds with the sounds of certain soundmoduleīs and loaded them into my sampler. iīm still doing that, but now with vsampler. you wonīt have much equipment to impress girls and friends with, but I think it is cheaper ... :-)

i love my oxygen8 - just have had it for 2 months now, but canīt understand how i could have worked without that one. i just want to assign everything to these knobs.

Yeah the knob are very cool. I'm thinking right now to get the uc-33 from evolution. More knoby action! 24 knob + 9 sliders + a midi trought + shiny and colorful patches!

i read somewhere that the J5 guys use the mo phat to get their sub-bass sounds...

It's quite possible that J5 does because there are some pretty bangin' bass patches on the mo' phatt... and probably further tweaked in mix down.

i like the proteus better, much more versitile sounds

I got to agree that the oxygen 8 is a tight lil soundless keyboard. I use it to control my soundmodule along with the mpc2k. works out good.

I had the mp7 up until like 6 months ago....then I copped an old used mophatt.....actually the mp7 was dope but this thing works better as a module used with a software sequencer...
