iīd get the xl just because the display is not sunk into it. after a while i found that to be really horrible. thatīs actually what i hate about the rs7k
Those things cost a pretty penny.....any one know how i could raise some money to get one lol....other than the illegals?

being an ignorant computer user, iīd probably go nuts on an mpc60 with limited sample time. i read an interview with dj shadow and just hearing how he managed to produce an entire album with that many samples on an mpc60 was amazing.
even on my s2000 that was maxed out to 32megs i was always close to full, when using some bigger sample banks. did you look at the rs7k? i think those are a cheaper and better alternative to the mpc2k. there just havenīt been any famous producers that used it, but i think we will hear of it in the future.

Here in Copenhagen the MPC2000XL has fallen dramatically in price in the pro shops and must therefore be even cheaper if you buy it from used markets...try the internet auctions and what have you...you're bound to stumble across one...just be fast cause there's probably many others trying to get one.
well i guess its off to the kidney donar clinic cause i cant afford them mpc's i will look into the mpc 60 or whatever its called and see whats up wit that .......what do yall think should i go cheap and settle for a 60 just to get started or should i save up more and go with a 2000xl or something in that range?

well, soundwise, the 60 is far from cheap. just make sure
it's got expanded ram and the new roger linn OS installed.
for all i know, both Chief Xcel and DJ Premier use the mpc60.
but as we all know, it's not about WHAT you use but HOW
you use what you got.
i hate the 2000's screen too, but i can live with it.

definitely not the mpc60.
i gues mp2000 would be alright and if you have some extra money, go for the xl version of it.
have you also considered a computer based solution?

i was also surprised to hear that - isnīt it a legend like the sp1200, hard to get and therefore expensive?

Yeah it is a legden but the sp1200 is dirt cheap why not the mpc60????It can't cost more than the 2000xl ....I refuse to beleive that

if they cost almost the same - why should you buy the older model? less memory, less possibilies, bad support, older and therefore more likeley to break down.

Ha! It's expensive because it is so straightforward to use! And the sound is just nice and hard. With the Roger Linn OS it is basically a 3000 without 16 bit sampling, less memory, no filters / effects.
It is a really solid machine and is in some serious demand surprisingly. A maxed out 60 will cost you about 1000-1200, I have seen some people get a 60 with new OS for about 800, but most of the time the 2000xl seems cheaper (unexpanded of course) I've seen them at music stores for 1099.
I wouldn't get the 60 because it's cheaper, (cuz it isn't always). I'd go for the XL if you want all the sample time etc.
SP-1200 are cheap? where? how much?
