the mpc 3k is bigger than the mpc2k. It has the S3000īs sample engine, while the mpc 2000 has the s2000īs. people argue the s3000 is much better. Having owned both samplers I think there is some truth in this statement, because soundwise the s3k is a little bit better, but i donīt think it is that important. The mpc3k can be hooked up with a computer monitor to enhance your editting possibilities.

the 3000 also has more midi ins and outs for more sound modules

the 3000 is just awesome. i had the pleasre of playing with one and it is just insane. besides that the design of it is just outstanding and it looks so tight. but youīd probably also be able to get things done on a 2k xl

mpc3000 has a max of 16 mb ram, xl 32
mpc3000 has an old fashioned style display(like the 60), xl has a newer style display
mpc3000 got the pads on the left, xl on the right

3000 was a roger linn machine the 2000 is just a copy of his work that doesnt swing or sound the same . 3000 is a better machine period i think the 60 was the best mpc though (sound wise)

the neptunes rock a 2000 xl so i think its all in you as of what you could get out each machine cause dre uses a 3000 and tim use the Ars and premo uses the 60. people get cault up into all the tech stuff too much...its all you.........its not the shoes but you jumping in them.

True fame_keyz, it's not how it looks on paper but how you rock it in practice...whichever machine that suits your needs and also, whichever machine you start to use, if you get familiar with it, you will most likely swear to never want another machine...

hmmm, i agree with that it doesnt sound the same, but swing the same? LOL they're both midi with a max of 96 ticks per beat, so what could be swinging more on the 3000

the 2000xl really doesn't have the same groove or swing as the 3000. They might both have the max of 96 ticks ber beat but the OS is very different. The 3000 has more of a natural feel in the quantize.

the real truth is that it is the man not the machine. I remember droppin some tight beats w/ a yamaha psr 510 it depends on how you interpret the sounds you hear on any given piece of equipment or software...no beat maker uses one exclusive machine. nor would I if I had the cash I would use every fricken thing out there just to create something new with it.... if it works different then what I do with it will be different but no one machine is better than the other. oh yeah and swing shming ya'll best be able to handle the real time or quantize at 64 and play that swing.:p

blablabla. canīt stand it any more.
i think outlook was just asking for some TECHNICAL details.
NO need for hypocrits to talk about producer x using hardwarae y or start a software vs. hardwore debate.
stop it!

Yes, it is in the person making the track. But speaking from experience the 3000 has a better feel when it comes to its quantize.

The truth is i dont really use the swing on the mpc that much most of my beats are always at 50%......i just forget to play around with it and before you know it that beat is done.

doesnt the 3000 also have internal sounds out the box?
that is also something to consider....... plus the ins and outs make for an easier module configuration.

if you can get the 3000 I would get that over the 2000xl any day but if your on a budget then the 2000xl will do just fine.

The funny thing about all of us who make music is the things we over stress(mpc swing or mpc 3000 drums sound vs 2000xl's or mac vs pc or Mpc vs whatever or this or that keybord vs) Dont really matter to the person who is buying the music. I dont hear people who buy music saying "Damn drums just dont hit or sound like they use too in the 90's or how come Dre beats sound wise sound different then Timbaland" What i mean by this is in the music world a 3000 or a Xl is pro gear that means you can make something that you could make money off of with. I dont think the mpc 3000 swing vs the mpc xl will make you anybetter than you are or if the drum sound alone will get your beat played or sold. The same with the debate over Motifs or tritons or pro tools vs this program.......I think if we started to speak more with our music first then find out this or that next you could learn more. Like if someone made a beat that i like i could ask them what they using to get that sound...and if that person knew anything about anything they would say i use this and this but later run it into this and add this.............Do any of yall have a Hd tv yet....shit im still watch movies on vhs...the funny thing is music as far as sound wise cant really get any much better t the point the customer will cares...hell alot of you old school cats love the 90's more than now not to care about the sound really that much...so i know the customer aint look at it any different. So until they change cd's from16 bit to a higher bit...get something that will give you pro sound and bang out!
