using breakbeats?

hey cats,

what's the general opinion on using breakbeats from sample cds and other places for your beats? is it fine to do? is it corny? is it legal?

Good question ...

Some sample CD's that contain breakbeats (programmed or live) are excellent others are just plain crap ... Personally I program drums almost everytime , and I believe that enhances my creativity because I can create the exact pattern and sound that I want ... but other than that I have no problem with sample CD's
Most of them are copyright-free and you won't have to pay a dime to the author if you use the breaks for your record.

I'll think I'll experiment with them and maybe use them occasionly put I'll still mostly program my own tracks myself. I guess if you find a ill breakbeat and it fits a song you've made perfectly then there's no harm using it.
