Went and got that 2500...
It's nice... Lcd screen is adjustable. It is black with grey pads. It has 8 outs with two stereo outs L/R. Seems to be the best of both worlds for the mpc.
But hell its my first akai I havent even started making trax on it yet I havent had time been working on mixin down an album.
I recommend it.
Question I have is what is the best harddrive to get so I dont have to rely on flash cards?
I want to soup it up so when I get it crunk I dont have to get frustrated.
I thought I saw a thread on that but I havent been able to find it again( until I submit this reply..) Cost about $1690.

Man where on that akiapro site are the harddrive listings?
I have been there like 15 times and never seen the listings they say are there for the approved hard drives. I am going to shop around for the Toshiba 40.
Should I do a self installation with that?
I'll check out that forum...

while at the site click on products, then 2500 then scroll almost to the bottom and on the right in a chart will be the approved drives
definitely do a self install took me about 5-10 min., the screws that came in the little package with ur 2500 are the only ones u need to screw down the HD
yeah that forum is the ish for mpc users

How is the sampling ability with the 2500?? The same as the 2000XL?? I'm torn on which one to get.

I'm not quite sure what u mean by ability but I'll give u what insight I can
they both sound the same if thats what ur askin
the 2500 has better features when it comes to sampling, one being that u can sample its main outs which is good for building custom drums or making a song intro, or whatever u wanna use it for, without hassle
another thing is u can sample while a sequence is playing, direct to track
theres a few more perks go to ur local music store and test it out

if you have the loot to spare (brand new, there's about a 700 - 800.00 difference) go with the 2500. the 2500 is that of the 2000xl but with some added features.

Get the 2500, its where akia is taking it to it would appear.
I get the idea its a souped up 2000xl.
