I have left my PC alone for a minute and rediscovered the joys of hardware once again. My Akai is back in business. I've noticed a different comfortable feel to the hardeware. (I'm not saying better or worst, just different) I think for the next few months I'm going to produce all tracks with my hardware.

Which Akai are you talking about? The MPC2000? It's been a while since I've messed with some hardware, I would love to get the feel of it again but I'm just so comfortable with software right now.

Dacalion, we're not going to go into another discussion about hardware vs software, which your post provokes. If you search for 'hardware' and 'software' your going to get approx. 1 page of discussions about this subject. The last one, a long thread, even determined that there isn't any real difference between the two, it's all a matter of choice. I kindly ask people no to turn this into such a discussion.

Oh cool I used to have the S20 a few years back. Is your maxed out? I never got the chance to upgrade mine but for what it did, it was sweet. The thing I liked the best was looping something endlessly while I had a scratch session goin' on.

I added a new SIMMs card, taking my sample time to 2 minutes in

That's dope. Are you using the sequencer in it? Or is it just for editing and stuff?

The sequencer is pretty worthless to me.(the only bad feature)
I use my Yamaha RY 20 to sequence. I set the drum pads in Bank B to trigger my samples, like an MPC or something.

Well actually it's called a "phrase sampler". I think it's geared mainly for live shows so you can create a loop on the fly. The sequencer is nowhere near as good as the MPC, the whole machine is very basic. It's good if you want to do some quick edits, truncate, and loop. Besides that, it's not great but it's good for someone starting out.

The S20's sequencer is str8 real time.
