hey all, how long do you spend on average in a record store diggin, and how long is the longest u've been at one store diggin.
ill usually spend about an hour or two if its the spot i always goto, local goodwill, but i'll spend as much time if its a new place, me and some friends usually go up to seattle to skate most weekends(like an hour away) and one time they left me at a record store for like 4 and a half hours haha, it was tight tho, i just wish i had more than 20 bucks!
so whats up with your guys' diggin habits?

Dog... it's rediculous. I've spent like 10 hours in a spot once. The only reason they let me stay after hours was because I spent like $250 on records. I got like 4 shopping carts full of madness. It was great.
Plus, there's this old man, Walt, in town that has this record shop. He kills me with the prices, but he's got some dope shit. EVERYTIME I go, I'm late for work because of it, and I always leave feeling like "FUCK! I just spent WAY too much".
Ohwell, I don't regret it. It's my form of cocaine.

^in addition to the regular cocaine? :-P
but yea iono i usually spend a few hours here and there. i like to go to a couple shops each time i go diggin. not just one. i like the difference in selection

i've only spent about 2 hours at a record shop. Once I get my portable turntable i'm sure that will alllll change. Do any of you guys use one?

OH SHIT! you just reminded me that old dude I was talking about has one waiting for me. I WANTED the old Fisher-Price battery operated one, but what he's got will do, I guess. Bastard wants $30 for it. Maybe I can trade him all kinds of country and western records for it... he loves that stuff.

all the record spots in my town, dont allow you to listen to the records before you purchase them. bastards.........so i basically go through and look at the record from the outside, i go digging every other day, so i look at record labels and artists and i pretty much know what might be good to buy. I think the most time i have spent in the record shop, is maybe 3 or 4 hours. Also the good thing about the record shops in my town is the records are mad cheap, i spend no more than $2 a record and there a tons of rare records there! so i guess i cant be too mad.......

I don't really go digging too much now, but when I was deep into it I would easily spend anywhere from 5 to 10 hours at a time several days a week - I wasn't working then so I had a lot of free time! I would hit up a bunch of different shops and some would even let you listen to them but you had to buy a minimum amount.

The spot i go to has 2 turntables you can listen to records on. I've spent at least an hour in there because there selection is small for what i'm looking for but i always get something.
thats why i love the infamous BEATSTREET RECORD STORE in the bronx.. now known as MUSIC FACTORY.. but they got all that shit seperated in all aspects already chopped samples on wax and original shit even 45's.. visit the site its the same spot you'll see kanye,, alchemist i just seen 2 days ago the rza is always there and even dre..
http://www.musicfactory.com it is under construction but the math to the store is

3 hours is my record but I went to the same spot 3 days in a row. They had a turtable tocheck stuff out on. It was a spot in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Ive gone twice on digging excursions to NO and once to Memphis. Around here I'll either go in for an hour and a half and really dig, and if I don't have enough $, I hide some and comeback in a day or seven. Itis definitely an addiction.

i usually cross reference music online through labels and rare dealers, song samples and whatnot, then once i have some dope shit i like, if i cant find it on the internet ill either goto a shop and start diggin around for a few hours...by that time ill either have what i want or will have stumbled across some dope ish in the meantime...and if i still cant find it afterwards ill finally cave and spent way too much to have it shipped over the net. but mostly im resourceful enough to cop that shit online fo free, mwa-ha-ha-ha....you'd be suprised what you can find.

i just got one spot where i am, and they have a few local record fairs which is kewl, also due to my location theres not many people after the same stuff im after which means i get to pick up a lot of soul and funk etc cheaper than cats in the US !
just down the road from me we got a place called spillers which is meant to be the oldest record shop in the world !

If theres a shop that will let me listen to used sample vinyls, I could be there for hours. Shops in my area only let you listen to a few new records, and the used ones are just gambles. After a while you can get good at judging records by their covers. If not you might as well just buy random stuff...

I'm a digital digger so I'll spend like 4 hours every 2 weeks just researching artist and bands and listening to their music clips and deciding hat to download. I think it's worth it I always get to hear new artist that I've neva heard of and it's like audio crack to my ears.
