now everones debating bout sampling and replaying samples and stuff like that. how bout for drums? I dont do this often anymore (unless i hear somthing really inovative and want to break it down, disect and learn about it) but when i sit down to study drum patters, ill often take a song that i like and place it on a track. (i use pro-tools) and then ill grab a portion and see how it loops. set up my grid and see how the drums fall on the grid. now i mostly use this as a tool to learn. an invaluable tool. but ive used some of the beats that have came out of it on albums. i alwayz fuck with the drums, add kicks snares etc, and take some away, to make'em different. but all this sampling talk is making me feel guilty. i use different drum sounds and the pattern is pretty different at the end but still...
anywayz whatcu think? do others do this?
also i would suggest this to beginners as a good way to get to know drum programming.
