ilok for protools

yo I just copped the mbox wit the protools le and some of the plug ins won't work cuz it needs some ilok thing I was wonderin do some of yall have this problem

Ilok is one of the reasons I dislike pro tools, dont treat your customers like criminals. Basically its a form of software activation. You have to authorize your ilok key to use certain software. Check out https://www.ilok.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/iLokManager see if that helps

also im runnin on 512 of ram would it be wise to upgrade to a 1gig of ram

updating ram makes a lot of sense.

Well not needed for Ilock but for general DAW use I would get as much ram as you can afford.

correct me if I'm wrong but aint the plug ins on the installation cd of protools when it comes with the mbox

yes but some of them are demos. You may shoot an email of to digidesign.

one day i woke up like .. Dman i need an ilok! .. got up, nevermind a shower hopped in the whip and headed to guitar center just as it opened.. copped an ilok, all excited to use it , got home , and thought to myself ..why the fuc did i just buy this thing anyway? .. i have about 0 use for it rite now ... i guess maybe in the future when i actually "purchase" *cough* some plug ins and stuff i guess i might need it but i cant recall why i was so hyped up about getting one lol

the whole process is pretty gay if u ask me.. all that thing is doing is taking up a usb port that i could have something actually useful and doing something plugged into... crap

yo ash i feel the same way...........i copped it from Sam Ash on queens blvd hade my hopes up n it tells me no authorization found n that i gotta buy the plugs but all i need is a preamp plug in and a compressor for vocals

I know alot of people think I'll just go buy I-lok dongle
and I'll be good to go.Be able to use plugins and whatever.
But all that happens when you go buy a I-lok is you get
a piece of hardware that can hold the authorization info
saying you brought whatever.
The only people that should be buying a I-lok
are people who lost lost theirs or have a broken one.
When you buy the plugins there should be one that in
the box.
