cubase problem

Ok, heres my problem. Just installed Cubase SX from a cd i got from my friend (Im planning on being honest and buy it but wanted to try it out first). After I've installed it I restart my computer and click the cubase icon on my desktop, but then an error message tells me I havent got a protection device installed or something like that. any help?

If you had paid for it, it would had come with a usb key to plug into your computer to certify you paid for it.

Get the USB key from your friend, or download the demo from Steinberg's site.
