for the mic question: get a condenser mic, den get a mic pre-amp, and yea it'll sound a lot better

Get a Neumann U87 with a Millenia Pre amp ..... The U87 is one of the most widely used Mics ..... you really can't go wrong with one ..... but only if your not on a budget.
