Played with Pro tools 8 for a few hours today

One thing, if I was to buy Pro Tools 7.4 (I think thats the newest version right now correct me if i'm wrong), does Digi let you upgrade to 8 for free when it drops?

I think the upgrade is $150, I may be able to do a little better for illmuzik but I think SW makes like a few bucks on this one as is. Should be out in a few weeks.

for those that haven't, won't or can't upgrade to 8, the di-fi suite version 8 is now free and doesn't require ilok authorization (it comes free in 8) you can use v8 of the plugs if you have 7.3.1 and up. http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?navid=115&langid=100&itemid=1009

Didn't realize the upgrade was free! I thought going from 6to7 or 7to8 involved an upgrade fee.

I paid for protools academic over a year ago and when they dissolved the academic version I was given the m-powered version 7.4cs4. I bought my version from Sweetwater, from the information does it sound like I could get this upgrade for free?

Also, When does this new version drop?

If you bought after October I think then you get a free upgrade. If you bought before then it will be $150 and ya it shipped last week.
