everytime i press R it goes straight up and stays there...

does anybody know what im doing wrong???

You may have automated the volume and so its shooting up everytime??

Is this happening only in this session or on other sessions when you hit R?

It happened with this session then i made a brand new session and it happened again...

thats a mic that i have in the channel BTW...

what can i do 2 fix this?

I havent ever had this prob, thanks god, this may be a glitch in the newer PT.

When you pull it down does it snap back up?

Is it recording too loud ? I didnt think that the volume effected the input levels..

it doesnt record at all...

when i hit record a solid red bar goes along with the track...

ill take a pic of that when i get home :-\

The solid red bar is it recording, or should be actually, then when you hit stop there should be waves there.
How long have you been using this? Did it used to be be fine and now its not?

Im surprised we havent had more replies..

Do you have a ground loop, that may be the sound that is casueing that peak?? do you here anything when you plug headhones directly into your soundcard

there's not enough info to go on or to try to duplicate in order to find a problem. R by itself shouldn't enable/activate anything. comp, release version, (to a lesser extent i/o set up, monitoring type, rec mode) and whether the op has checked digi to see what issues if any that are known for their comp and pt release version. also, if there's custom key commands

ive been using pro tools since january and i never had this problem before

what do u mean by ground loops :-x

and yes i hear everything off the mic when my headphones are plugged in
