Cool Edit Help!!!!! [Archive] - IllMuzik

ok i just got my Tascam US 122 and a condenser mic. i installed the drivers and all and now im trying to make it work with cool edit. but everytime i try to record something through the mic, cool edit doesnt pick up the sound. help me out here! is there something i should change in the settings??

What about your computer's mixer settings? Do you have Microphone checked off under Record?

Click on the speaker icon in your system tray, then when the mixer comes up, click Options>Properties>Recording and make sure Microphone is shown in your list. Click OK, and make sure Microphone is checked off where it says Select.

U DA MAN FADE!! U DA MAN!! shit! why didnt i think of doin that? anyway, now i got that settled. now another problem has arrived!!! when i record on cool edit on one channel, it only records to one side of the channel. to give you a better picture of what the tascam us 122 is. it has 2 mic inputs. L and R. but does that mean that if i needed to record on both left and right id have to plug in to both ports??

Hey,

If you've only plugged something into one of the mic inputs on the 122, you only need to record a mono file in CEP. Otherwise, it will record silence on the other channel, which is unnecessary.

Glad to see you got it working. For the other problem, when you hit Record in CEP, doesn't that little window popup asking you to set the options for recording? You should set it to Mono.

Ok! i tried to change the recording settings but i cant seem to find it. everytime i right click on the channel i want to record in it always says stereo. the other two options are "left only" and "right only". where can i change it to just mono?? PEACE. thanks for all the help btw! this site rules!

Ahhh you're talking about the Multitrack. Yeah it would be in Stereo, I don't know. I'm sure Vitaminman can answer this.

i figured it out. ima post this just in case someone else has this problem. i plugged my mic into the Left Mic In on my Tascam us 122. so on the multi track channel, i picked Left only on the Recording properties. that way it only records one side. it seems pretty good to me. thanks for all the help people. PEACE
