Yeah you're right. There's nothing wrong with sampling loops, but for me it's much more rewarding when I play something and record it straight.

And right now my setup is all broken up! It's a long story. :bawling:

Did you just post that to impress us with your set-up? I would love a set-up like yours but all I can afford is a pc with software and you do need musical skill to create a good beat with fruityloops. Like they say anyone can make music but not anyone can make good music. Someone could have all your equipment and make something amazing while someone else could make something garbage and the same goes with music programs.

Wow, you get a gold star...
I rock-
Ensoniq EPS classic w/ 8 outs and full memory
ProVerb 200 effects processor
DOD 2 channel 15 band EQ
Kawai 10 channel mixer
Shure SM 58 mic

the only thing I really want to improve my sound at this point is a nice mic pre... Ghetto rollin' boy! To each their own..
peace

Oh yeah, I produce music the old fashioned way too.. I sample it!

I know one dude who has enuff equipment like u guys, he has had all that equipment for over a year and he only has two beats to show for it.

THE MORAL: dont think that getting more equipment will make u a better producer or more productive/creative it may actually do the opposite.

I know a guy who just downloaded Fruity loops from the net, messed arround with the presets and called himself a producer....

THE MORAL: Don't think that working with software makes you a cooler guy then the one who worked in his free time to pay for this shit.....

Man you will be amazed at how many people I know on the net that do that very same thing. They take pre-existing loops and splice them together, to me that's not producing that's mixing and blending.

i get tired of people ragging on sampling..i play music too learned theory on piano and plus play guitar and bass...but do you people that play your "own" music program your own sounds too?do you also cut down a tree and make your own keyboards?no?well then don't complain..you aren't as real as you think.

Guevara, I'm not one to diss sampling...but your arguement seems a bit off. No people didn't make they own keyboard and the sounds came included...but they are still composing something new.

As mentioned before, I don't won't to turn this into yet another sampling vs. playing stuff yourself debate. Both ways can be equally difficult...it's all a matter of preference.

I can program a mpc60 2000xl 3000 asr-10 asrx akai s900-950...But I really don't sample anymore...I never cut down a tree and made my own keyboard...I'll put that on my things to do list....I'd just rather make it on my own with out sampling...there's nothing wrong with sampling but when you bang out some hot shit with out sampling it gives you a better feeling about your music...At least it gives me a better feeling

There's people who have bigger set ups than you and their beats are ass, and there are people who make beats on fruity loops and will crush most people. Dont hate on shit unless you know what your talking about. If you got talent you can make heat on anything. It doesnt even matter. Like me and many others have said, if fruity loops was called Pro Wave Construction or something all you would be suckin its dick like you do pro tools.

naw playa you gotta quit with that keyboard thing. the keyboard IS an instrument. you play instruments to get music.

i cant just buy a keyboard and press a button two times and have a bassline it requires some kinda skill or luck. Im as real as it gets.

and whens the last time you seen a wooden keyboard anyway. i guess id be samplin too if the newest keyboard i got was made out of wood. id suggest musiciansfriend.com they got some great specials!!

ay i feel u on dat finished product Nasir. You got your original producers that can make some killa shit and vice versa either way you still end up with da same shit...a beat

This kick stepped on the court yesterday with some T-mac Adidas on and a T-Mac Jersey. Thought his gear made him T-Mac. Got in the game and got ate up like a big mac. Highest scoring player was rockin' some old as Barkely's.

The most important production tool is your creativity and how well you rock the equipment you got.

Some of the bangas on this board are working with thousands in gear...but then guys like Chang are right up there with them with the little he's got.

Skills....most important production tool.

^^^...but of course, the right equipment does help you improve your damn skills.

I think that If you strip a good producer down to the bare bones and no gear and you say here is a sequencer do ya thing, lemme see if you know how to produce to get this million dollar deal I bet you it doesn't matter if you give em fruity loops, an mpc, a triton, a turntable or any 1 of them.....if they know how to sequence and make a pattern correctly to fit the track he is to produce he can do it.......if you haven't mastered the backbone of any production setup......"The sequencer" then to me you gotta do your homework.....I am not a fruity loops fan, although I have made tracks with it and cubase.....I use a motif, a triton, an mpc a turntable and lots of vinyl and an s950.......it doesn't matter i have seen them all the core is the sequencer....now you're not going to make all of your tracks in realtime, if so then UR good or a drummer and understand triplets and 16ths and ish...., if you cry about not being able to make a track then you can't produce period.....if you always have to have the best gear....work with what you have and master it....but the main thing is if you learn how to sequence you can make a hot track on anything........

^^^^^Amen....The funny thing is I started out with a sequencer nothing but drums hats cymbals rides cowbells....It was a casio rz-1 I think but it had nothing but the basics in it no samples no synth sounds it was nothing but a drum set in a in a box
