I was wondering what everyone thinks of the production in hiphop today? Do you think its getting better or worse? Who are the producers that are pushing the boundries and who is bringing hiphop down?

Oh man, don't get me started! Hip-Hop production today is on a real downer right now, just check my signature.

I personally don't like the jiggy/dance stuff coming out, which is most of today's stuff. Like Neptunes, Nelly, etc. I'm not saying that they're not good at what they do, they are, but I just don't like it. I think Hip-Hop is like any other form of music, in that it has its ups and downs and right now it's waiting for someone to come out with a new, breakthrough style.

For those of u that are bored with the stale sh*t coming out these days u need to check that UK production.

People like Skitz & Agzilla/Deckwrecka are coming with amazing beats, Lewis Parker (Has anyone heard the Ricochet Kalashnikoff 12s on YNR???) Braintax, Joe Budda and if you want loud heavy drums check the P Brothers (outta Nottingham).

Plus the low key Farma G (Taskforce), Jehst, L Dolo, Harry Love!

It's not the easiest to get hold of but it's well worth it (check the quality of the MCs on the UK scene right now)

It re-ignited my love 4 Hip Hop.

(4 UK Hip Hop check www.suspect-packages.com)

Beej you have a good taste in music man, I am into british hiphop in a big way, I heard some of Lewis Parkers new album yesterday and what I heard was so good. Also I can't wait for Fallacy and Fusion's album as I think Fusion is a mad producer, that Estelle track he just produced is wicked.

A note about UK hip hop im not a fan, it may be technically proficient but the music strikes me as boring and unengageing.
Production today is alot more varied than it has been in the past and this diversity shows growth.

True alot of the stuff in the charts is throw-away pop music but some of that jiggy shit is nice and I want to hear that shit when in the clubs surrounded by hella girls.

Like I some of my peeps was hating on that N.O.R.E track but I thought that was a dope club track.

So as Del says there is a time and place for everything, I dont have a problem with dudes making that flossy shit and the masses enjoying it.

the problem comes when media outlets like MTV and radio dont present the full spectrum of music being made in a particular genre.

I think the underground bangers should be mixed in with the flossy shit so more comparissons can be made and the wider audiences can judge how good the most popular artists are when played next to the undergrounds finest acts
