im totally new to producing, even though i have mixed with acid for a few years now. i want to get more serious. i heard about the oxygen 8 usb midi controller keyboard by midiman (http://www.midiman.net/products/midiman/oxygen8.php)
is it good for hip hop production if i am mainly doing everything on my computer?
also, what software should i use??? i love acid to mix everything once im done with creating loops and samples, but i dont know jack shit about synthing. for an all encompassing lineup of audio software that i should get, would it be
Absynth v1.3.4
Reason 2.0
Soundforge 6.0
Acid 4.0
Rewire
Sonar 2.1
whats good, whats bad, what else?
help
thanx

I don't know anything about Oxygen 8, but if you're just looking for a MIDI controller, then just about anything is fine.
As for software, if you're looking for synth stuff, your best bet would be Reason. Have a look around the Software (http://www.illmuzik.com/software.php) section.

the oxygen 8 is great for software production. i have one myself and i must say that it has been great for me so far. it gives you 8 knobs for some realtime tweaking actions. it basically goes with most softwares. i personally use it with fruity and cubase. its by far one of the best, if not the best, usb midi controllers out there. i would definitely recomend it. only problem i can think of is the delay when i hit a key on the oxygen8. but i think that has nothing to do with the O8 but more on my computer. aight! hope i helped you out. I own one as well. The little cheap keyboard action is nice for real time input, but I cannot say that I have ever found a reason for those knobs.

Yo I also got a Midiman Oxygen 8 yesterday and been tinkering with it all day and I am frustrated.... Yo F.L.O.C. I use fruity loops for most my shit and I am not sure how I can use the Keyboard with it. Or do I have to use Cakewalk or Reason which I am totally unfamiliar with???
The software disk came with all these programs like Reason and Acid and Antare...but I use Cool Edit and Fruity so I don't really wanna install the other programs unless I need to....Some one help me understand how this Oxygen 8 works and what it works with....
Did you check Hazwaioh's review on it?
http://www.illmuzik.com/articles/reviews/oxygen8/oxygen8.php
It's not a tutorial, but at the bottom there's a link to their site, which might give you some more info. Plus maybe Hazwaioh can step in here and offer some advice.
