MXL 990 Microphone, Getting Rid Of Static?

Hi,

I THINK this is what it is...I have connected my MXL condenser mic through my mixer that has phantom power, and it sounds real sweet, except it has static. So when I turn up the volume even half way up the static is REAL loud.

Is there anyway that I can get rid of the static completely so that all I hear is the microphone and nothing else.

Please help!!

maybe a bad cable. or if you are plugging 1/4 inch into your board you may have to clean the inputs on your board.

maybe you have your gain up too much on the mic's channel.
