it's the same as magix music maker or Ejay...you basically use it to 'paint' samples over eachother and they're timestretched to the current BPM rate...not useful for programming your own meldies, you can't hook up any MIDI...anyway, if you're serious about producing (or want to be), ACID is definately not the way to go....

yea basically its a slightly advanced version of ejay ! its ok at wot it does but u just put samples in and put them together theres no real skill involved and u can't write ur own stuff really !

I STARTED OUT USING ACID AND WORK MY WAY UP TO CUBASE SX AND REASONS. I USE THE TRITON RACK AND THE PLANET PHAT. I HAVE TONS OF CRATES WITH BRAKES AND SAMPLE CD'S. NO MATTER WHAT I'M PRODUCING I FIND MYSELF USING ACID SOMEHOW. ITS EASY YOU CAN USE THIS PROGRAM TO DRAW YOUR BLUE PRINT. GOOD LUCK

Some of Y all seem to be ignorant about this software ....
It is not a more advanced version of e-jay .....It is much more than that
... It's a sampler, sequencer, mixer , editor , etc .... and it's very easy to use ... Ejay (at least their theme software line) is a toy...
and PROZAK : I don't mean to be rude but ACID PRO is fully MIDI compatible ... (ACID MUSIC has some MIDI capabilities)
Don't get me wrong I use other pieces of software like QUARTZ, and Goldwave , etc... but like sent_inc said you can use ACID for your blue print... then you can use other pieces of software to polish the result if you want
ACID music or ACID PRO is a must buy (but the not the theme versions which I find a bit limited)
peace,
PHIL

YOU ARE MY HEROES PHIL & DASON!!! ACID is the best thing out there for a beat slinger. Cool Edit 2K, ACID & Sound Forge... I got your neck!!!
I use ACID 3 & 4. I go back and forth because some people REFUSE to upgrade. ( I hope you see this Q! LOL)
You are not just limited to what sonic foundry put out on CD either!! I grab shit from vinyl or anywhere else. Make a loop or a one shot ... BOOM! You're layin' it down!!!
Plug-ins , EQ and MIDI Sequencing(on 4) are all on point.
I will ALWAYS use ACID!!!! (Evil Laughter)

acid is garbosh..I admit that I have a homie that uses it and chops up their sounds and places them in the grid where he hears fit..this takes alot of time and skill but anyone using constructed samples as a blue print...gets a giggle from me although they are made royalty free...its art man...no dissin to those who like it though..but if you want some real deal try REASON..once you learn how to use it you wont ever let it go..you may not use it for the whole construction of your beat but there is not a better synth generator around..I know from experience
anyone who has any questions about how to use reason...right. hit me up I knwo so many folks who open the software and close within minutes because it is pretty complicated but after the<---the cricket demo they are in luv. say good bye to fruity loops..

No producer is limited to using pre- constructed samples. I make my own samples 90% of the time. ACID is basically my "super friendly" sequencer. ACID may not be as in depth as REASON, but it really gets the job done. The chopper section allows you to totally manipulate your loop as if you were Just Blaze or Kanye West (or whoever the hell chops samples). Remixing acapellas are so much fun for me now! I love it! If it was a woman I'd marry it!

You don't have to use the pre constructed loops they give u with acid, u can use ur own sounds and samples too.
