Hey,
I know they probably use a TON of other stuff as well, but I found this interesting:

i don't know about anybody else, even though public enemy is known as legends and pioneers and crap i think their music sucks. they're beats were horrible and lyrics were friggin black panthers racist crap, and their only good beat was shut'em down (REMIX) which was produced by PETE ROCK!

Public Enemy did discriminate white people but not in general. If you are not a white racist yourself and don't think that it was ok that black people were held down, then their lyrics weren't aimed at you(, metrosoul). Apart from that, their songs were about many other things and helped make the way for our culture.
I never felt much of their music either though, their beats didn't appeal to me.

How so?
Personally I'm not feelin their music anymore, but its cool to see Cube-heads gettin some props. Althought it didnt really say Public Enemy actually used Cubase, just their engineer. All engineers use software nowadays, atleast all the ones that like things to sound good .

Public Enemy and whoever produced them during their time were straight pioneers of the art of sampling. Listen to the many sick ass samples that they put toghether to make a track. Mad sick!

If you know anything about history you would know that the Black Panther Party was far from racist...Public Enemy also had classics way before Pete Rock Punk ass did the bullshit remix for them You should watch your mouth about the racist Black Panther stuff Because one of the greatest rappers of all time Tupac SHAKUR was a Black Panther I see you know nothing about it and I would advise you to keep your thoughts of that to youself...Remeber this is our music you're listening to CHUMP

well said inrcty ....
PE was not a racist band , they were portrayed as racists by the media but if you pay attention to the lyrics you'd figure they're not
As Chuck D says in his book "Fight the power", "We (PE) are not racist but we are definitively anti-oppression" ...
peace,
PHIL
Chuck D "Black is Black and White is White , it's alright no need to fight yo ..."

your music? i'm a hispanic-italian-irish mutt. i guess i have to get rid of my mpc and xp-80. all this time i thought God gave us these abilties... and here i come to find out that black people came up with it and so have ownership.... maybe i'll start playing percussion for a salsa band, because i have no business making "black" music. my apologes to all- i dont know WHAT i was thinking.
that was a joke, just so people know...... no offense, but black people arent the only ones that have been oppressed.. i seem to remember some indians getting their land (this land) getting taken from them..... and some mexicans losing a huge part of western america to the whities..... and you know, i am a little tired of this. heres an idea- lets change the present instead of constantly complaining about the past!

No one mentioned anything about being oppressed?????????It's sounds like you have a lot on your mind and you're looking to start something....No body was complaining about the past Metrosoul made a remark about the Black Panther party being racist and that was responded to.........You're offering your advice and opinions at the wrong time....... And if you didn't know which I'm sure you probally read in a post that you had to write a life story on , Indians are getting reparations .......They all get to attend New York State and City universities for free for their land being stolen from them but what happend to the 40 acers and a mule promised to Black people..........Comparing struggles is the last thing you should be doing truth

PE is not racist, nor is their audience. I saw PE in 91 at the Apollo in Harlem and I am a white skinned Hispanic, and I went with a white friend. Everybody gave us a warm reception and all was cool. 9th row, great show. FYI most of their audience in their heyday were white college kids, so STFU.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. werent we discussing public enemy? and then the issue of them being/not being racsist? didnt you make a comment to cope, that he seems to understand the struggle that black people were going through? the point being, big deal. so he's cool because he "gets it"? as far as me "having to write a life story"- ? um..ok.
Yeah c'mon guys, ya'll are WAY off topic. Get back on the subject of PE and Cubase or I'll have to close this thread. If you want to discuss racism and stuff, start a new thread in The Spot.

Rap/Hiphop, blues, and jazz are all Black music. Other people can make it, and not all black people can, but you have to acknowledge where it came from and who it belongs to, or else you're a theif.
Shit, if eminem can admit and acknowledge, what's your beef?

The statement I made was directed to Metrosoul and a lot of people seem to have on their super man cape coming to defend the man.......It wasn't directed towards you elmacco or you Truth told but to metrosoul......If he feels like responding let him respond he's a man just like us and I'm quite sure he can stand on his own two and defend himself so please stop taking things as if were directed at you!!!
