View Full Version : Who still digs?
Any loop diggers on here? perhaps Fade can set up a crate digger forum, so peeps who wanna talk records can do so.

Digging will never die. I had to rebuild my collection after most of my vinyl got lost while I was moving a few years back. I got about 500 records and climbing. Get Sinatra and Tony Bennett records lots of nice rich samples.

I got a few crates. Lost most of my early Hip Hop when I stopped DJing for a while. Let my homie use some of creates and he let some of his homies use the records until they can't be found. But we'z on da rebuild! Keeping till the casket drops!

yeah I dig man, but its getting harder to find records the cheap way. Im having to buy more and more now. I hit up people all the time like " A you got any old records layin around I will take em." I found a new resource now and have been hittin that up on the regular.

I dig all the time I have nice stash of Volt and Philly Soul records, 45's and LP's, but you know with a 9-5 actually more like a 6-7 LOL its hard to do that and make hott stuff and get a good concept together....
So do u think we need a crate digger forum?, cos the amount of posts i see here talking how "sampling aint creative" or "its just a loop" or "anyone can do that" .
you get peeps on here thinking they are extra special cos the use some techno presets in there keyboard to make all there beats its funny/crazy.
so im thinking it would be nice to have a section where peeps could just talk records.
We would only have a section for digging if it was in high demand. Right now I don't see that. I'm sure there's a lot of members here that dig, but for example, if this thread had something like 100 replies the first day then yes!
I hear what you're saying though, but I don't like to add sections unless there's enough of a demand for it.

Whats this?
"STILL" digs?
These TRITON kids get a synth pad and think their creative. Son i can do a two finger melody that will stick in your head quicker than you can load up your drums, sure it's more like your building it from the ground up, but lemee see you take ya two finger expertiese and stick em in a room fulla crates for three hours. see if it helps you then.
ain't nothing nicer than some dusty drums

I dig. Probably got about 700 records or so, although we dont have a single store selling vinyl in my town (population only 15000). Just try to get to know a lot of old people who are ready to give or sell their collection. I never loop though.

I've got 2 crates. some blues and 80's hiphop. i got a lot of kids records for some tight creative tracks once i aquire the skill. i bought 7 Star Wars 1979 records for like 8 bucks, once. I still have a lot of questions before I can actually make beat that is made up from 10%-80% record sample.
btw, Staples has ill plastic crates

ok, well, let me see some of you loopers build a whole multilayered/multi instrument arrangement, play every melody yourself (sorry-no interpolating) from the ground up, and actually do some mixing, you know, the things that SOMEONE ELSE DID to produce the material you sampled.........and then take some squeaky clean preset drums and dust them up yourself..... and make something besides bassline stabs froma sine wav while your at it...
honestly i dont even feel that way, because i love sampled beats... but some of yall need to understand that its just a personal preference, but it seems like certain samplers get offended at the thought of someone using keys....the "us vs them mentality" doesnt make any sense....

Diggin' is in my blood like it is for most of you all on here. I look for just about anything. Lately, I'm into some junk from overseas. I've copped a lot of vinyl from my grandmother (RIP), she had MADD vinyl!!! I'll probably be 50 years old still getting all moldy and having allergy attacks from cratediggin'!! I should be buried with some vinyl! LOL!
Yo Carpe, I'm liking where your head is at homie!! The library is a great and affordable resource!! I never though about looking there for music! I'll have to do that.
