I've used Fruityloops since about version 2. wateva!
I use 3.56 as of now and i actually know the program backwards and forwards and inside and out! If anyone wants to check out some beats i got in flp format just holla back

What i dont completely understand is how I can sync fruityloops up to a program like Cool Edit. As you can tell I dont know much about Midi and I realize that most of you guys do! Also what i'm trying to achieve is this.

I want to push play in fruityloops and have CEP 2.0 automatically record! Is this possible? and if so; how!

Also I have a midi keyboard that came with my soundcard that I use to play simple melodies and baselines but I wonder if I can link that!

I'm also interested in getting new soundfonts to be recognized in the midi keyboard! I've had no problem downloading them but being able to successfully install them to a directory where they will be stored! Any help would be great!

I got alot of ideas for music making with software, but my midi background is limited!

Also I just Cubase SX (not really impressed but i believe i'm missing out on midi cause it seems ill) also I would like to know how can i use the sounds that come with my midi keyboard and have Halion Recognize them! Question is how would I set that up?

Ok I'm just scratching the surface and it seems like a lot of tutorials on the net do the same thing! Their either too vague or non existent but never both at the same time! As said before any ideas or suggestions would be great! Peace

I can go into detail about some of this, but I was gonna do a little tutorial on a few of the things you mentioned. So um, I'll answer with that. In the meantime, someone will give you some answers.

I use Fruity Loops and Cool Edit Pro among other programs, although I don't know much about midi.

One thing I can tell you is that you should put your Soundfints into the directory fruityloops/samples/soundfonts

They are then available in the fruity browser under Soundfonts.

hope this helps

Fade, I'm looking forward to the new tutorial homie, good stuff.

This is one piece of your puzzle that might help! set your sound card to record wave out mix. and it should work, as far as recording your sequence. if not look into get magix music studio, i use all types and found this is one that works with my cakewalk and sound forge.

and yeah on midi trial and error
is the way to learn.

Can decent beats be made with fruity loops? I downloaded it off a plasma program disc and caught pure hell trying to make a track!
Plasma was just as bad. I think I hate all cw products.

Decent beats can be made with Fruityloops but like anything that is good it takes time. Fruityloops is rated as the best soft sequencer for a reason and it's because their are so many things you can do with it.

First tip on making beats is the key word "Tempo" what type of beat are you trying to create? Something peeps can bump in the club, something a lil metaphysical, or something crunk! Depends on alot of factors, but more importantly! Do you know how to make beats! That's important to lol! Naw just joking but seriously I make a lot of beats that people feel. One of my tracks has been played on Soundclick.com 947 times in the month of April alone. I made the beat in Fruityloops and Dropped my vocals on the track in Cool Edit Pro 2.0. I've tried the rest and I think I'll stick with the best. Dont get me wrong because their are alot of Midi programs that can do what Fruityloops does but I dont think as easy! Fruityloops has different levels to the program and if your determined to make beats I would say learn something new about it each time you use it. You can't magically start making beats people feel in seconds but you can start making beats! Mess with different time signatures. Insted of using automatic time use a 1/4 step and see what results you get! Dont be afraid to search for more instrument samples in wav format on the net! You would be suprised! If you bought these same samples for an actual hardware drum machine then you would be suprised on how much loot you would spend for a kit, it's kind of ridiculus but that's my opinion. Also make sure and let alot of hip hop headz check the beats your making to kind of lead you in the right direction! People know what they want to hear but more importantly you have to take the lead and set shit off. Peace

Fruity Loops is okay to use. But you need to have more options than what Fruity Loop give you. If you are serious, save money to get proper sequencer and synthesizer.

i love fruity. just make sure you get your own samples, some vsti sampler, synthesizer and a couple of decent effects and you are ready to go.

As for the original question about getting Cool Edit to record FL. I'm using FL4 and that has an option in the file menu to export to WAV (along with MP3, etc). You can then load the WAV up in Cool Edit.
