You should start by learning how to do Nonpareilesque beats.
Learn some shit about drums, drummers, drum samples, drum loops.
Get acquainted with a good sample editor program or a nice sampler and learn how to slice up old drum loops and make new beats out of em, and combine those with other 'slices' from other breaks or loose drum hit samples.
Then learn how filters and equalizers work. You will need knowledge of that shit regardlessly. When you think you are ready for the next step, start messing around with/reading about dynamics and effects for modifying this (compressor/limiter, gate, etc.).
When you have learned this shit and know how to make some decent drum beats (the above knowledge can be applied to basslines as well as to many other things in your mix too), then maybe if you still feel like making dreesque beats listen to his shit a lot and put your knowledge to use.

you may also want to add some echos to give each bass drum or snare to give you more accent.
