The name is Viler Production we are a Music Production Group from London, England.

We have been producing music for about 6 years, First started making Grime music from 2006 on wards, we then started doing Hip Hop rap from 2010.

Some Advice From an Old Guy to the Younger Talent

All I can say is..."Never say Never"

For years I was just doing hip hop, and that was it. I didnt and wouldnt really do anything else, except maybe some Drum and Bass.
But that was it.

I swore I would never "sell out" and do anything else.
But times have really changed, I have started making many other genres of music and in doing so have found that its not just hip hop I like making, I actually just like to make music, whatever the genre.
My being stubborn in the past has cost me a few opportunities, and as I reflect(as you do when you get older), Im not getting any younger, and may have possibly lost my chance.

All I can say, is try and be flexible, dont limit yourself.
I put all my eggs into the "boombap hip hop" basket, but where is that now?
Its only us older generation that really clings on to the past, I still say its worth clinging onto those great days that hip hop/rap music rose to its grand heights of popularity, but stay open to new ideas.

It would also be a very good idea to try and spot new trends as they start, instead of jumping onto the bandwagon when the trend has been rinsed, (auto tune for example). Better still, try to create your own trend.(Timbaland & Neptunes for example, created a whole new unique sound which then became trends of their own, simply because of the originality of the sound).

MY KEY POINT OF THIS THREAD IS KEEP YOUR OPTIONS OPEN.

If you plan to make a business in music, have a business mind and put the ego away. Ego's kill opportunities, cloud the mind and fool you.

If this is just a hobby for you and nothing serious, then ignore all I said.
But if, for you, music is a career, then this is for you.

Serious problem with white noise

Hope someone can help with this..

Basically, every time I record, I pick up a LOT of hiss. I mean an unreasonable amount, often almost equal to the vocals.
Here are some examples of what I mean

and heres a vocal with the hiss behind it. (I know, the verse isn't that great, I don't rap much lol)

I'm using a Scarlett 8i6, and a cheap dynamic mic. I get the hiss even when the mic isn't in though, if I turn up the gain. The mic picks up the vocals really low for some reason, so I have to turn it up a lot. I've tried leaving it down, and then boosting in the mix, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
I've been having this problem for a couple months, and still haven't found an answer yet. I know that its nothing to do with cables crossing or anything, I've checked that out and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

So..yeah. Any ideas on what this is and how to avoid it?
