Cakewalk has released Sonar X2! There are a lot of new features that have been added to Cakewalk's Sonar X2 DAW, including hundreds of enhancements. Sonar is one of the few DAWs out there that improves greatly with each release, and the X2 is a combination of listening to their customers, plus seeing what today's musicians really need.
The Skylight is a user interface was first introduced in the X1 version, but they've improved it in X2 with Auto Zoom, Timeline Zoom, Smart Grid, and NOW time. Cakewalk has also improved the actual views inside the software, making everything function and match the look and feel of the Skylight interface.
The Smart Tool is one of my favorite features of Sonar, making the workflow simpler because it reduces the extras steps needed to click for a new tool. Now the Smart Tool was improved in Sonar X2, pretty much eliminating the need for switching tools altogether.
Another great addition to Sonar X2 is that they've integrated SoundCloud. Now when you finish your project, you can simply distribute your own music and notify your fanbase instantly.
