How many times are people gonna BITCH about the south because of soulja boy? That's 1 person out of how many southern rappers? We have tons of good rappers from the south, but that doesn't matter to people not from the south, because all they see is soulja boy. Bottom Line: It's not the souths fault.

smh

I dont want to see an end to the dirty souf, I would just like to see more balance.
There is a place for all kinds of hip hop, we shouldnt be bombarded with just one kind, thats when it gets a bit boring and predictable.

Couldn't agree more. SB dominates the mainstream & that's where all the hate comes from. No balance at all. Same 10 artists over & over again.

The south is cool, some of my fav artists are from there. BUT the culture that is portrayed in the mainstream right now does need balance, and honestly EVERYWHERE needs innovation. The south has its good and bad just like the north had its good and bad, just like th west, mid west etc. The mainstream, the artists and the producers ALL need balance and diversity.

Yes I am sick of trap beats and people sucking one style

I love Dungeon Family, Outkast, GoodieMob

I am sick of really fake sounding drums being dope. I am sick of very little actually music going in to hip-hop, dirty south seems to encourage this.

Outkast on the other hand has some amazing musicians.

Does that make sense?

yeah, no, It doesn't make sense at all....Have you hear Rick Ross last two joints? Familiar with the Justice League at all?

That fake drum shit is a HOUSE influence on hip hop not a Dirty South influence.

word,,,the South still got ill artists. It's like on the East Coast we got cats like fabolous and fat Joe in the mainstream,,,doesnt make them good. Same could be said for Soldier Boy and the rest of the cornballs from there. Every region has corn.

That's a great point man.

I've been put off by southern hip hop from the production aspect alone. I've heard well produced southern music, just not in a while. It's like anything though, you want the tight shit you gotta dig for it.

The southern style i'm most familiar with are the double time hi hats and having synth or brass incorporated in some manner. I find it hard to use synths or program hihats in doubletime without quantizing, so the sound can be very gridlocked and robotic rather than organic.

I don't mind the dirty south tracks, anymore....They are what they are..

But as was stated earlier...I would love to hear more balance.....

I would like to hear that on the radio..but radio is very regional...you barely hear anything associated with the NY sound here in FL...

With the emergence of Drake, and the reemergence of Eminem, the sound is changing a little bit...I hope they start a trend to balance out the mainstream....

I think Detox would be awesome for hip-hop in general...But...we all know that it won't come out...so yeah....that's it..
