Okay, I'll go first, I've been working on 3 tracks the last few days, but I'll only show two. I tried to take TomKillsJerry's advice about adding a driving rhythm to my tracks. Also please critique on mixing, instrumentation, etc.

hey @arta i like your beats you have good rhythm and good feel to them, but i would say that the beast sound a little simple and too dragged out. lacks a little depth to them, but overall i would say in terms of the general sound and tone of the beats very nice in that department. if i could give you a few pointers i would say try not to drag out the beat and try to catch the listener of guard instead of building up over time (sometimes) if that makes sense, nice work and GL.
First time using samples don't know if it sounds good or a bunch of random voices and instruments s plis let me know :).

@arta pretty clean mixes, I'd cut the intro a lil bit shorter on the first one
@saaid the transition effect is really packin a punch on that high frequency, maybe tone down the high end and you're gold
@tomkillsjerry The man with the 808s, maybe a lil bit strong on the first one but everything behind it is gorgeous
@GNOOM you have to give feedback in order to get it
@Klypse simpson joint clean as a mothafucka, keep workin those basslines, almost there

Decided to get back into throwing acapellas in the mix

Sorry didn't know what was good etiquette on feedback,

@saiid I dig the vocal sample. I feel the left side of the mix needs to be filled out, feels like most of the sounds are panned to the right. That building up sound is grating af and almost makes the track unlistenable. Got a solid base for a track here just need to balance things out and fix the errors that bring down the rest of it.

Sup y'all! New track I finished up. Lemme know what you guys think.
---
@arta - Opening Words - I can hear the idea behind the track. I think you can build up the track some more up until the point of when it drops. The drums could come up some more in the mix. The other elements you bring in are cool. I feel like at some points it is hard to follow what's going on rhythmically.

@saaid - Not a big fan of that riser. The breakdown you have is cool. I think sound priority wise it might be better to have the strings over the vocal chops. It sounds like you're using the vocal chops as more of a rhythmic element than a melodic one. Just my opinion on that though. Or you could tune the vocal chop and then use the chop as a melodic instrument. I think both ideas would be cool.

@Klypse - Wonderful flip - Sample is nice. Drums have a nice punch to them. The beginning flip you had going on was cool, but lacking a bit. I liked the portion starting at around :57 much more. I feel like you should build the meat of the track around that. It's got a better groove to my ears.

@tomkillsjerry - Lost My Mind - Mix sounds a bit loud. Or at least the bass is a bit overpowering. Maybe tweak the sustain and decay on it a bit so it kinda fades from note to note. I dig the groove you have going on tho.

@GNOOM - This is trippy as hell lol. A bit hard to follow melodically. I really like the drum samples you used in this. The swing on the drums are on point.

@S3oulC1ty - Your drums and basslines are always on point. I feel like the snare could use some more high end. Kind of hard to judge the flip with the pella on top. The tracks got a cool vibe to it tho.

Okay a lot of feedback gotten on the "Opening Words" beat. It's supposed to be an album intro so in my mind it has this long intro with a lot of talking in mind. I do agree however that maybe I should build the beat up more so it's more impressive when it drops, I tried that by mixing up the piano melody but I guess I have to do more.

(I've gotten this criticism with my soundtrack stuff so maybe I should practice on getting things started earlier. :) )

As for Koey who said sometimes it was hard to follow rhythmically, I don't know if it was that cello at 1:11 that threw you off. I added that to add a "driving rhythm", but I have another version on my soundcloud that omits that. See if you like that better.

And thanks for the comments on improved mixing. And please critique the 2nd beat "Strawberry" when you guys get a chance!

@saaid I think the riser only works the 1st time, after that it keeps making me think the beat is gonna drop when in fact it already started. Track also seems to be missing a lot of low end.

@Klypse nothing to criticize technically about the "Wonderful" track, but man that Simpsons flip turned out way better than I expected. That joint knocks.

@tomkillsjerry "Lost My Mind" the filtered claps in the buildup are hard to hear, other than that, great sound and effects. "Neighbours" simple but effective.

@GNOOM this is really tough to follow. The instruments chosen are good, but those random, jarring edits to the samples keep making me think i'm in a horror movie like Get Out. Maybe you should smooth out when you drop them in the track.
I went to your page to get a sense of your style and you have good stuff, the sampling there drops in a lot smoother like a Pete Rock/ Primo beat. I think "Hay" has the same sample as Cappadonna's song on Wutang Killa Bees The Swarm. Good luck.

@S3oulC1ty once again you flip the track in an amazing way and back it up with a great bassline. I gotta learn that.

@Koey Nice bouncy beat. The constant vocal sample made it a little hard to focus on the beat, but you might be aiming for a dance type track.

@CrunkScientist Pretty cool mellow beat. Something about the bassline seems a bit too standard compared to the sample.

@Krass1 My advise is to lower the synth sound 1.40, because it's dominating the whole mix. You can use some distortion on the 808's for the high's. Second beat was nice mixed, but not so much variation. There is one channel on youtube where I learned much from .

@Kod4R: I like the sample. The track is missing a bassline, or at least needs one to support the bass from the sample itself.

@J-Hershey: On "Cosmic Ride" I like the drumsand the ideas of filtering the sample as you go along. The faint horns that come in after 16 bars are too faint, they could be turned up a bit.
"Sarah" Track idea is solid. The drums need a lot more punch and the percussion knocks seem too loud as a result, Another mix would make this great.
The "Island Sounds" I listened too a week ago, great work with the sample flip. I went to WhoSampled.com and realised most mainstream instrumentals don't use the xylophone section of the sample at all, so good job.

@TheWorkingMan: great sample flip, great work overall.

@Dedskin: That's a track I could see Kurupt on back in the day. Nothing to critisize really except that the West Coast synth seems a tad too loud for my taste.

@Krass1: I like the instrumentation ideas in the first beat, it needs to be mixed better like Jonny J said. The second beat has a crazy sample. Add variation to it and it’ll be fire.

@Jonny J: great drumwork with the military snares. Nice chill beat. And good looking out with your referral to the J-Dilla technique page.

I’m mad.

Windows 10 did an update and all of a sudden FL Studio hangs up on loading. Until I figure it out I’m stuck on beatmaking for now, so hear’s a really old sample beat I did

And here's that 3rd one I was in the middle of working on.

@arta 'Strawberry' has alot of nice instruments and the mix sounds good too. Nice mellow
beat, good job. Not sure what it is about that hand clap but i wasn't a feeling it after awhile.
maybe a change up or drop out could've helped. 'The Best' is coming along well. The
drums and baseline are tight. Good job on the instrumentation. My criticism is that female
vocal is too much. Maybe just use it on the hook or breakdown and throw some EQ or FX to blend, shes
to cheery for that beat.

@saaid Creative beat man. The drums sound good but the Instruments and especially that
FX are too hot in the mix. Keep at it.

@Klypse That Wonderful flip got my head nodding, good stuff right there. Simpsons flip is
dope, haha, creative.

@tomkillsjerry I like your sound man, dark and synthy. Lost my mind is banging. Only thing
is when those female vocals came in I wanted them to be more in the background or FX'd
to make them darker. Real good stuff.

@S3oulC1ty Your drums and basslines are always hitting hard. This a real dope flip but i
think the acapella on top is not letting it shine to its full potential. I wanna groove to those
soulful vocals man.

@Koey Solid beat. Its got some groove to it, Im feeling it. Only suggestion is that wah wah
pad sounds too loud or overpowering once the beat drops.

@TheWorkingMan Nice sample flip. Drums are clean and good change-ups.

Tried my hand at flipping a funky soul loop. Let me know what you think.
