What Happened To Being A Specialist?

I'm for people trying things they may discover they have an affinity for but when you factor in how many of us spend much of time working for someone else as opposed to ourselves, the latter which isn't for everyone just as the former isn't for everyone, what happened to when rappers only wanted to rap, vocalists only wanted to sing, instrumentals wanted to play their instrument(s), etc.? I'm a firm believer in Romans 12:6 if you understand the idea of gifts differing.

What @Fade brought this on was the idea that artists are encouraged to do literally everything themselves which is counterproductive as good to great music was/is made by people who understood/understand each role.

My career is non creative and leaves me intellectually numb in a way that making music most likely wouldn't.

I strongly think that Artists should not do everything themselves. I mean if you have no budget, then do everything yourself and get your music out. But to actually do this for real you need a team of people that I better then you at certain things. For example I will ALWAYS use a top end mastering engineer. Its worth every penny. But if you dont have the budget then get it done anyway you can!
