For some reason I did not get feedback on the last one. So I'm posting again. :)

here is another track from that top secret time travel record I am working on with Lord Lav, here we travel to Miami in 1986 Let me know what you think. Still working out a few bugs but its close. Not mixed yet but you will get the idea.

ha, oh yea this is just a reference track that I can listen to Lord Lav's performance and see if he needs to do any retakes. Its not mixed properly at all. I will probably add another bass under the main bass riff to give it more weight. As far as bugs, there are a few tracks that need edited, also I think I am going to change a note or two on that lead synth, and I dont like the ending. Right now I am just focusing on the song itself, lyrics and structure. Then I will focus on the technical stuff like levels and mixing as its such a left brain/right brain thing. and I am crazy OCD about this stuff and will rework a mix like 10 times before its right just ask StressWon how many times I have reworked shit with him ha ha.

ok now on to your track, first off LOVE the horns, damn that main horn riff is so nice! We need more of that in hip-hop. I kind of feel like the hat and snare are not grimy enough for the rest of the track, they seem too bright. Oh man, I would LOVE to replace that lead synth bass with a fucked up dirty real bass! I would SOOO play on this track if you wanted! This one knocks for sure man! I dig it :)

@thedreampolice - sounds great! cant believe that it has not been mixed yet though..what do you mean by bugs?

here is mine...tell me what you guys think...

great beat, but I would put a snare instead of the clap, thats all :)
EDIT:i think it isn't a clap but a very bright snare, but i still would change it in a dirtyer one
(sorry for my english)

today i made this beat

This is really good.Dig the sample too.The only thing I can think of would maybe be to try and think of some patterns to arrange the chops into to give more variety but honestly it sounds pretty dope as is.Gave you a follow on soundcloud too man keep it up!

I haven't posted on here in a minute but Ive been working on trying to get a better way of making my shit..still a work in progress though haha...anyways let me know what I could do to improve on future stuff:)

This really progresses nicely.I like how you add just enough elements in to keep me interested but dont change everything up too much to lose the groove it has.Good stuff. Also did you use any samples or is this all synths or both?I always have a hard time mixing the two haha:)

Another flip I did.Kind of a tribute to the pornos of the past haha!Been making these in Ableton then either bouncing to a cassette and back in for mastering or using an effect in Reason that makes stuff sound like a cassette or vhs or vinyl and then mastering in Ableton.Honestly I like the way the Reason effect sounds over the 4track.It gives the faded sound but still clean..... or something like that...

very good oldschool beat man ! :)) the only thing i don't like is the white noise in the background and i like the sample at the end ( is it streched ?)

Thanks man!Yeah the white noise is from a cassette tape...I was going for a lofi type sound(love me some grimy sounds). The sample at the end is actually stretched a little weird by mistake haha!I finished the beat and noticed it and was like oh well:)Have to be more careful next time!

thanks...all are samples.. :) just tweaked a bit. its amazing what a software can do, but if i was doing this full time? i would do it all in mpc's :)

sounds really great...which version are you using?

Heres a hip hop-ish Lorde remix I did as well..mainly looking for arrangement tips(this is only my second remix)and I know this site is mostly for beats or whatever but the producers I've encountered on here seem really knowledgable and I value everyones opinion on this site so any advice will help for my future work.

@thedreampolice interesting sounds but the mix sounds a bit flat...
@Bugsy love the horns! Also agree with the comment about replacing the snares with claps, it would give the track a bit of snappier energy.
@michele beta nice sample, really really like the drums, sounds very classic :)
@bcwarlock beautiful sampling, love the piano line, is this all samples or did you play some of the instrument parts? The 2nd track you posted has got a big Joey Badass vibe going, also love the horn samples, anything with horns gets mega bonus points
@atomicbnr, not a big fan of the rapping style to be honest. The singing parts do sound good though, vocals could definitely do with being doubled up I think

Here's a little tune I made yesterday, using a Notorious Big acapella. Went for a no beat approach :) Tell me what you think!
