What do you like about FL?

I get the impression that some of the music industry doesn't take fl seriously. This annoys me, flstudio is a fantastic program.
I like how everything feels very robotic and clicks into place.
I also love how dark the skin is, for late night track making. What do you all like about fl so much?

Why has dissing become INFUSED into hiphop culture? are we the most insecure people on the planet? I could retaliate and say "yo beatz is whaaaack" but I'm not a prick.

and your beats are quantized like everyone's beats so don't talk. It's not something that you can "turn off." My sequencer can quantize to beats, steps, half steps, quarters, eighths, sixteenths, all the way down to 64ths. Technically you are always quantized. if I want to swing a beat, I quantize to thirds and i swing my snares to the left or right of the bar. If I want to stack a clap or a snare, i offset each sound by a 32nd so that the stack is wider and more natural sounding. If I want my chords to sound more natural I separate them. I'm not a novice and I'm not exclusively "New school," so don't dis randomly if you don't know what you're talking about.

But anyway I produce on FL because I have since I was really young and I'm comfortable with it, but it may be becoming a vice because I'm attached to it. does anyone know of similar but more technical programs because I feel like I have exhausted flstudio as far as I can.

wasnt tryin to "dis" u fam... u said u like ur beats robotic, and everything falls into place... yea, i got quantized snares and kicks in some if not most of my beats, but i also keep things free flowin... i also said that FL has dramatically improved, and everyone that ive talked to enjoy FL8... it has definately caught up to the rest of the programs based on what ive seen, read, and heard... i dont know which one ur usin but maybe u should try FL8 if u havent already.

yea... my beats are wack... im the only one that understands them (well, me and MY crew)... I LOVE THAT!!! originality is the best thing to have out here... even if its wack originalty.:matrix:

Wack? no sir, your beats are damn good. I'm using fl 8 and it's a fine program that does not get enough credit. I have made beats with upwards of 60 layers. It handles it all very well. Honestly, reason is not enough of a step up for me because let's face it, it's about the same as flstudio.

FL doesnt get the credit it deserve bcuz of its past imo... it came out as "Fruity Loops"... we all know what the company had to do. they had to change its identity, plus its bein associated with a breakfast cereal... so its only natural to change the name to FL... but that old tag is still hard to get away from with people that remember it that way... plus they were pretty slow in catchin up... but it doesnt matter what ur "drivin" as long as the result is what u envision in ur mind... i always say, if i can duplicate what i hear on the radio with the equipment i have, then i dont need to give up what im using... maybe add another piece, but i will always keep what im using.

and thx for the compliment... i know theyre not wack... ive won beat battles and ripped stages with these beats... BEEP... BEEP!

I think its aight. I like it because it's fairly easy to use and you don't have to spend a couple years learning it like some other programs out there. However it does have some limited funtions, and it's not exactly the program used by most pros. I think a lot of people use it because it is easy to use, and it's also cheap, and most guys starting out can't shell out for the highest end pro tools rig.

P.S.
I like the sound that you hear when it first starts up :)

I love FL..

If you can make dope shit with a cup of milk being hit with your cock piercing....then use it!

I don't quantize it..I put it close...but not always on the set piece...sounds more natural...especially with hats and rolls.

Logic is like the new FL but with more sounds and better quality sounds..

But if you stock up your FL with dope sounds, you're good money..

FL is only as limited as you want it to be...as with anything else...it's not what you have, it's what you could do with what you have....

FL has changed production forever....EVERYONE who knows anything about production today knows about Fruityloops who knows anything about production - whether they make beats themselves or familiarize themselves with the art of production.

I don't really think industry people frown on it as much as people think.. I think it's some dudes that aren't in the game who spend all their hard earned money on all this equipment and can't make a banger that are the ones that hate on FL..calling it "unprofessional".

cats be dumb like, judging a book by its cover...fl has been a solid program for a long time and for a while being the most adaptive one as it eats and supports all standards. Its intuitive and easy to work with but has as much parameters as you'd expect from any daw.

^^^Relic, that's what most hardware cats say hehe, feels like cheating. In the end, fl is my sketchbook, tracks end up in logic or in a hardware sampler (and then end up in logic).

im at the point now where im not gonna put ANOTHER bunch of machines to the side to go software and use Reason, FL, Logic etc... im gettin the same results as everyone else and i know my equipment very well... so therefore there's no need to start spending again.

i love fl studio 8 xxl

i use fl studio 8 xxl and love it.I believe it doesn't matter how much the program costs, its what you can do with it to make good music.Ive used ableton, protools, and other programs which are expensive programs yet made better beats with fl studio.Anything i needed to make a beat fl studio has.Fl studio lacks NOTHING.I love the ease of use.Just because a program is more complex doesn't necessary mean its a better program. The best programs are the ones that allow you to execute your full potential. For me, fl studio is that program. Can't wait for the next version.

I checked it out and have no diss for FL its a solid platform, I just felt like I was cheating the whole time I was using it. lol
But I'm a hardware head from waaay back.. Long live the MPC!

I feel you on the cheating part...but the money I spent compared to the money I could've spent on hardware......Man...I wouldn't have been able to afford all of it....So software has been a blessing to me...
