The only thing I'm "eh" about is its Android 2._ I think newer androids are on 3. But that could just be for the tablets, or could be simple as an upgrade. I only JUST got in the market for androids (This week, I skimmed all summer). Im loyal, but blackberry (and my phone specifically) has taken too many Ls in its performance and features this past 4 months.

I'd go with it, just check with its version number.

Honeycomb (Android 3.x) is tablets only, the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich (4.x) will be both Tablets and Phones. The only real thing about Android is, while there are music production apps for the platform they aren't as good as say Intua Beatmaker or iMaschine, but ImageLine is developing an FL Studio Mobile for Android (no date currently). If that is no issue the ONLY other issue I see with that particular phone is Gingerbread (2.3) hasn't been released for it, at least not officially. If that is also no issue for you (honestly it shouldn't be Froyo is still quite good) then I'd say go for it if you don't already own an Android device.

If you really want a tablet, I'd look at the Archos Gen 9 tablets

But honestly, a netbook IS technically better (bigger harddrive, more ram, better cpu, windows 7+, etc) and is actually cheaper.

It really all depends on what you're looking for, if you need the power you can get from a netbook thats actually a better and cheaper route.

But a tablet is a different experience. Android (iOS and bbOS as well for that matter) has applications that just aren't available on a conventional computer. Take Slacker and SoundHound for example, although there probably exists something that is already on your Windows or Mac OS just like it.

Ok.. Infuse 4G is a dope phone from AT&T.. I convinced wifey to cop it. Best bang for your buck device out there...(she paid $99).

Downside is no dual core processor......

Other than that...it's a dope phone..

Downside to Samsung is that they're the LAST ones to get any kind of android update...and they've got epic fails with the Epic 4G upgrade to 2.2...lol.

HTC is always beasting the mobile phone market.....the Galaxy S II is a good look..

Now if you're going to have that phone for the next 18-24 months, I would go dual core as my professional opinion (since it's my job to know about all the phones)....

Android has a lot of free apps, however for the most part, you get what you pay for.

Apple has better apps, overall. But not many productive free apps.

Another thing to consider is the protection plans. Apple has it's applecare....while you can use your provider's (probably Asurion) insurance carrier....

Not sure what you really want in a phone, though....

The new BB Bold is pretty awesome (don't get the torch, btw). International phone..1.2ghz processor (which is more than plenty for a BB)... but it lacks in the app department....So basically get this if all you need it for is some web browsing and checking your email...

If I had a choice right now, I'd go for the iPhone 4S 32GB... and that's coming from an HTC owner.

I know you all think I am just an Apple nut(..)

Yes, we know Chris. lol ..But apple is out of the question, I cant get into the closed system.

Gonna check that, but havent had a good experience w/netbooks. Most havent faired too well.

Closed system, yes.... Jailbreak it and access apps not "available" and it's awesome.

Android is open, however it's apps suffer from mediocrity in terms of quality..... you kinda have to consider what you prefer. Android devices for the most part do suffer from battery life issues (my Evo has to be charged at least once fully in the middle of the day). The 3D is a slight improvement....whereas the Samsungs actually fare pretty well in the battery life department...

Dac...my girl's Infuse 4G can go 2 days with regular use between charges....something you may want to consider...

I suspect the battery life coincides with the increased use of apps like twitter. The fact I cant rock with apple for the way they operate, nor do I buy into the hype. I have zero desire to be anywhere near them, much less give them my money lol. If you support companies that have tactics like theirs, they'll never get the messege that they need to ease up.

Might have to get an Android phone also. 8mp camera, Front and forward, email, maps support, good internet, Goog apps integration, notes app, and enough other apps to keep me entertained if I ever care to indulge, and Im straight.

Gonna check out what you posted Suc

Thanks everybody!

@Sucio - would you suggest the Galaxy 2 over the Infuse based on it being dual-core and the Infuse isn't? I mean do you think that would be an issue as far as using business and accounting based apps?

I lol'd. Nothing to do with that. Apple products make you use other apple products that suck you into other apple products. I have alot of friends that want to leave but have issues with actually physically doing so. Thats the jest without going into real detail.

??? Android is not open at all.

as far as apps yes. Explain why it isnt...?

I don't really understand this? Even itunes music can be moved to something else.

Well google has closed it, they are no longer releasing the source. And as far as apps go android apps still need to be approved by google. The Apple app store is of course way more strict. But this is a VERY good thing, the Apple app store is full of high quality apps, and the google store has tons of garbage.

I dont know anyone that has done it. Regular people. Could be human error, dont care enough to really dive in.

I agree, theres a filtering process, but theres also a business side where they can choose who gets to benefit from their users. There was an article about how they filter not based on quality but rejecting apps for more political reasons. I wish I could find it to post it. And like I said, Im not using a phone for toys, just some biz apps, Notes, web, and email. Iphones are ment to be conversation starters/toys/etc, not interested in that. And from what Ive seen, android gets it done.
