I usually don't comment when people start trying to divide talking about boom bap vs trap cuz it's all pointless. It doesn't matter what style beats you make if it's quality then it will stand out for example there's a trap joint with Benny with the big dog Acapella that I think is extremely dope. There's are plenty of trap producers beat I love. Like juicy j or zaytoveen and alot of them use samples too.What some people fail to realize. Is that hip hop started out as a sample based art form. When they was rapping over just drums breaks and no samples. Everything thing is a sample. If you make a original beat if you aren't playing the instruments or live drums yourself then you are sampling too. If your using drums sounds that you didn't make or play you are sampling. To say something isn't creative because you prefer something else over boom bap is just not accurate. Me personally I make the type of music I grew up on. If you love and prefer trap or something else then thats fine as well why does it have to be an issue? I make originals and chop samples and chopping is def not uncreative unless you just slapping a 8 second loop in like puff did to make hits but anyway that argument is tired. Just make what you love whatever it is.
