hey i'm jason (AEOHEX) - from SF, CA USA

-semi old-head
-into all types of hip-hop/rap
-mostly stick to the mid 90s to '10 era as far as listening goes
-been making beats on computers and samplers since 2001, off and on, as a hobby
-2005 CRAS Alum - Master Recording Program II (Studio Engineer/BoH+FoH Live Engineer)
-formerly certified in Logic Pro and ProTools
-currently work in Ableton 12 and a bunch of 3rd party VSTs, but i've used FL, Bitwig, ProTools, Logic Pro, Acid Pro, Cakewalk, Reason
-i make other genres of music, too

i'm here mostly because SoundCloud blows now.. there's no community like there used to be because of their new business model of "pay 4 access to new listeners".

i landed here in my mission of looking for a real community of listeners/artists/DJs who still care about the craft and are actively working on stuff, not just posting that same old 64 bar clip they made in FL Studio years ago.

so far i like what i see. especially how the beat battles are anonymous for the judging phase. that's pretty dope.

I got turned off by Soundcloud a long time ago but also when they mentioned they were going to use everyone's music for AI learning.

I think the whole pay for listeners is just bots. People rarely like or comment. Soundcloud wanted a piece of the promo scam.

Probably. All these platforms eventually get away from their original plan. There were other platforms in the past I used then they started charging for a bunch of stuff so it got annoying.

i think so too. they say it's real listeners, but if you look at how the numbers come in, it's either VERY controlled or yeah, bots. sucks... soundcloud was the shit pre-2017. i think they got bought by some Chinese holdings conglomerate and thats when everything went to shit.

i want to pull all my music off of there, but i have a few different artist aliases for different genres, one of which has 600+ real followers and a small but devoted fanbase that ive worked hard to cultivate... it's a tough call..
