His biggest influence is TB from norway, a dnb producer with some fierce 2 step breaks. If you know a bit of TB and listen to Timb's electronic breaks you hear it ( though, twice the speed ).

Scandinavian producers rule! ( Hakan Lidbo too )

yea i read about this already, its just an interpolation of the other song, he replayed everything and made it an entirely different song, so yea he should have paid to clear it but apart from that i don't see what the problem is ! he made a good track out of it ...

Yeah, there is no doubt these two pieces resemble each other, all the way down to the synth used somewhat, but the fact here is that the interpolation may be different in key and progression but similiar but nonetheless technically different although the rhythm seems to be very similiar and the drum track is about the exact thing, if he had to provide the sheet music it would probably be completely different for someone comparing so if this was not a sound recording "sample" there probably will not be an issue, there was another video of this guy explaining what happened but what he says is close but not accurate, I would like to know if this original piece was composed or was it somehow part of either a demo song or such on the amiga system that might explain the arpeggiated synth line ?...at any length I feel for the originator nonetheless....but unfortunately this happens all the time, however slight or completely different the interpolation, if its not exact its not the same thing....I think that the video showing the use as a ringtone and comparing side by side is the most convincing for the argument though that the track was stolen LOL. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV2fTEeP6GM&mode=related&search=

I could have SWORN I posted in this thread...I must be losin my mind...
I know that I said somthing about how Dre does this all the time yada yada....
But wasnt there a case in the 60's about where John Lennon had used the same chords on a song that the supremes had done and he had to change the thing???
I wouldnt want to be Timb when the lawsuit came down because if I was on the Jury the sound is too damn close for comfort not to have permission from the originator...
GUILTY!! WHAM!!!

Maybe i am hearing wrong, but its in the same key. Timbo laced some stuff ontop but i dont think he replayed that synth line.

The original track was composed on some old school Amiga. You can even find the original file for it on some site that run competitions with that old school gear.

Check the original thread i read it from,
http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=2274635 it has a link to the original .mod file for the amiga

Yeah its more than likely in the same key, but the debate is whether he sampled it or replayed it, now replay could be as in using the amiga to replay using those sounds a stock arpeggio, slowed or sped up accordingly to get the same melodies....at any length its pretty much the same track, the ringtone was more convincing than how they broke the song down, that actually made the case weaker, anyhow its been said countless times that, yes real producers do listen to the internet, and if they hear something like a melody or whatever, this sparks an idea that for them translates not in winning a beat contest or whatever in the public domain, but getting paid millions they know they can keep and 99.9999% that the lowly producer making the claims will never have enough money to retain a lawyer on that level that would be able to successfully win and get your dues and even so, by that time it will be long after the dust settles and Timbo has paid off a couple of more houses and cars LOL.

LoL its a shame. As a producer though, i would have thought dude had some ethics. Who knows, maybe his engineer gave him some loops (including that one) and he just went with it becaue it was hot. Or, having been in the game so long and being so successful, he realised what you can get away with and what you cant, and in doing so lost any ethics he may have had in the beginning.. But we are yet to hear his side of the story, so nothing can be assumed.

Honestly though, who here would do something like this? You are already freakin rich, now you can just create crazy joints and still make money. So you turn to this?

All we have here is internet rumours. Don't believe everything you read.

For arguments sake lets say he did use it. All that he did was use a sample without clearance, Half the people here are guilty of that, does that make you a bitch? no that makes you a hip hop producer ;)

the problem is the lack of credit ... as far as jacking beats it happens all the time ...tons of producers remake/replay stuff inlcuding your favorite one .. that dosent suprise me.. but when u do that especially on a major label like tim is u have to give credit ... thats the issue .. not that he took the beat .. dre,tim,.. have all taken beats beats and replayed them or sampled them before but in this case no credit was given .. who knows it might not even be tims fault someone is his camp might have messed up on paperwork or miscommunicated something ... this type of stuff happens all of the time but now that the allmighty timbo is caught all of a sudden its a big deal and timbo is wack now lol ....... please...give urselves a break from the hate...... how many producers in here have cleared there samples? ...

I don't see it as really stealing anything....he found a way around having to pay for sample clearance...lol....i think he's a smart buisness man for that. If i could play everything i wanted to sample just the way it sounds but change it up just enough to where i don't pay nothing, i'd do it to.........

i mean while we're on this topic why dont we talk about the thousands of producers who've stolen directly from timbo, whether we're talking drum patterns, syncopation, samples, or instruments. i think timbo should have paid the guy but its not a huge deal, nobody can tell me tim isn't one of the most original producers ever.

not to mention, does anyone whos accusing tim of this have a pressed copy of this original song from 2000? i mean maybe the guy's telling the truth, or maybe he was sitting in his basement and wanted to make a youtube video to get some attention, and copied timbo's song. who knows, its the internet..
