Need New Interface: Apogee Ensemble vs. UA Apollo vs. Metric Halo 2882

I'm down to these three. I don't need the pre's, and i don't necessarily need the UAD processing as I already have a UAD duo card. I could always buy a used rosetta 800/FW but I dont want to buy used if i don't have to, at least if i can't test it. What would you guys say?

This is for my home mixing set up, as i don't like having to drive downtown to the studio just to mix everyday. Signal flow would be the interface(need 8 channels minimum) into my focusrite(audient design) control 2802 console, and then the mix o/p back into the interface to print so that I can add in my La-2a comp and my trident eq's through the 2802's inserts.

I would go 2882, if you're not bothered about pre's (apollo has more gain, ULN2 does +72 though) and just need line drivers than this has the better ad/da (although slight and yes.. subjective blabla). You're already running an uad card but getting a plugin license for the 2882 might be good a thing. While not being as popular in emulating the popular vintage outboard like ua does, it does offer a very good toolset/channelstrip.

Other than that, MH is highly flexible (see MIO on their website), has aes aswell and apollo has not. Apollo does have dual adat port for smux but thats only interesting if youre going to use it. In a high end gear perspective i'd prefer having aes :).

gl picking either, as allways if you can testdrive/compare then definitly do so. Text doesnt convince most people, your ears do :)

Well, I changed my mind and went with the Lynx Aurora 8. Thanks for all the feedback.

Oh man, Lynx is better anyway! What are you going to use for pre amps?
I have a UA LA-610 mk II and 8 pres in the focusrite board(same pres as the audient zen console). 8 tridents too, but I plan to sell that as I rarely use it. Got the lynx with the USB card Pre installed, have read that the fw version is very unreliable. Ordered it through Mike G(can't remember his full last name) over at Sweetwater, not sure if you knew him.

aurora is a good solution for the money, congrats with the purchase!
preciate it, it should be coming in tomorrow. I had done most of my work at the studios i've worked at until recently, so it will nice to have a real interface at home instead of the saffire pro 40 i had boxed up that i've had to use.

duh... saffire pro isnt even close (waste of money imo), imagine there's even better out there hehe
Haha, yea the saffire came free with my focusrite(audient) 2802. And yea, I know there are better than the aurora, but 8 channels of lavry converters(have Lavry in the studio I work in) would cost more than my car I'm guessing, lol.

lavry blue or da924 <3 Yet they all have pro and cons depending on what the use is. Stuff had me pondering for a while and there's no cheap solution and AD is even more troublesome to pick then DA. If you were just looking for an ITB setup with an analogue loop i wouldve said lynx hilo :)
