Let's flip this and see what's what! :) Nice piano in the beginning. The song itself has a nice vibe, you can grab any of it, there's some good stuff in this one...

I don't have any good sites to link to for downloading to MP3. All the ones I know now have popups. Try recording onto your computer. Post here if you need help with that but it depends on your setup.

@spectralight Funky bassline! Also like the variation of the beat... Drums have a nice "live" sound to them... Sounds good! :up2:

I started out with a lo-fi vibe that I was getting from the intro piano... Just built everything around that. Used a few other samples from the song as well. Usually spend a lot more time on mixing, so I hope it sounds ok... Happy New Year Everyone! Enjoy...

@Fade The Hexotic YouTube Downloader is a great front end for youtube-dl. It can be set to download only audio and doesn't freak out with copyright, aside from completely blocked or region-locked videos.

@crog85 That definitely grew out of the lo-fi idea. Maybe get rid of that low pass filter because it ruins the mood and rich sound of the beat.

Been ages since I've done much sampling - some good practice.

Not spectacular by any means but thought I'd better finish it..

Enjoy!

I like the different ways this goes, but some of the notes seem offkey, especially some of the bass guitar. If you play around with some different notes you should find the ones in the same chord. But still, I like the originality of it.

@spectralight This flip...I'm impressed. Those drums are dope and i like how the vocal comes in the right spot...GJ

@crog85 I like how it was put together. Its dope and the bass is dope also

@Edgar I like those dark style you have there. Keep up the good work..

@2GooD Productions I like the layer piano you did there along with the upbeat bass. Saucey..

I took 3 different section of this sample and tried to put it together...

Thanks @crog85 - Yeah I try to push for some variation where I can now, back in the day I would just let the same bars ride over and over lol. Drums were bashed out on Maschine in one take - don't think I quantised, just lined up a few spots for the kick and snare at certain points.. That bass line started to feel like Stone Roses - Fools Gold for a bit there heh.

From Edgar -
Definetly some dance viby grooves!!

Thanks @Edgar - Always hope for my tracks to have something to move to, thanks!

Cheers @Klypse - That means a lot, this is the first place where I have ever really gotten feedback on the sounds I make. Otherwise I have been going in blind cultivating my sound to what I think sounds OK - nice to have some likeminded people give their thoughts. Yeah I was vibiing off that vocal chop. ;)

Appreciate the feedback guys. It's been a long time since using samples - I guess I got the sample dread and ended up using mostly VSTs and one-shots for a long time there.. Reading something on here about sample clearance etc. when not selling massive copies eased my mind a bit.. ;)

@crog85 - Wow, dope atmosphere you created in this one - also love the lofi vibe on it!
@2GooD Productions - Yeah nice oldschool vibe, if only I could I could spit some bars, would be great for it.
@Edgar - Nice chilled out vibe, smoke a joint to this one.
@Klypse - Props to the creativity aspect in the way you utilised multiple parts to blend, though I felt the piano got a bit lost in there at times.

But all in all thanks for sharing and giving me some dope beats to listen to, and for taking the time to listen to mines!
