It's the second beat I'd published and I had some fun. Still trying to find "my style"
Hope you guys like it. Any comments are welcomed

Ahh man, the melody is there, but that 808 and kick needed to hit abit harder. Great work on the Hi hat and Clap Patterns, it works well.

@2GooD Productions
dont have much feedback than what others have already pointed out. That 2nd track is funky af and great mixing to my ears. What kind of effects are you using on the voice, ive got a track ive been trying to replicate that vibe with my own voice, but havht figured it out.

@Marc Duncan liked it the whole way through, escpecially what you did with the vocoder?vocal patterb through out it.

@Memento Beats I think this beat is really complete dude! you should definitely get some bars on it, its all its missing!

@Stoned Monk like @Crispifier said, totalky zoned out, could wash dishes to this until my fingers pruned haha super chill

@K9 TheRoyal i get east-asia/ndonesian vibes, sounds like gamelans i dig it. hard beat but super chill. Some of the higher more glassy/crystal bell sounds give to much tension for me at times tho.

@prodbeto lots of potential in this beat, feel like it need more layer/elements to it. Fill out the mids a bit more.

@EsquireMusic111 is that you on the vocals?? really good stuff. rap, singing and instrumental were all on point. mad track!

@Khaly Beatz the snares were to loud for me on that 1st beat, was liking the guitarchopping in the 2nd track but when the 808 comes in its super distorted.

@OGBama big props for posting your rap, refreshing to hear a different flow.
following your lead, heres a rap and beat ive been sittibg on for a while cause i can never get the mastering right. tried again today.. lets see , any feedback is greatly appreciated!

@joemonco Really interesting beat. I like the differentiation. I don't know much about mastering, but it sounds good in my headphones. Is this you rapping? I like your flow. It reminds me of Roots Manuva from Great Britain.

So this is my first post on this forum and the first time i've ever let anyone besides friends listen to my music. I grew up on 90s and 00s hip-hop, so i' all about sampling. Please be kind! Acapella is from Cella Dwellas.

@LAB-01 yeah thats me, i'll have to check Roots Manuva, ive seen his name pop up a few times now :up2:

Your instrumental is beautiful dude. really digging it. some parts of the acapella i feel dont fit perfect but when it all lines up it sounds mint.

Congrats on your first post, its a big step putting your music out there for the first time!

edit: holy shit.. ty for this lead, how have i not got around to this yet..

Haha @Memento Beats the first 3 notes of the melody remind me of something i made aaaaages ago. Weird.

I like all the mix only thing feels a bit odd to me is the bass. Cant quite pyt my finger on why. Dunno if it seems too compressed or mushed not sure. Think if it sounded a little morec clean or stable. Rest is delishus

@prodbeto nice

For me I'd think itd sound sick if the drums and main hook were glued together a little better. I don't know if it's a case of less reverb. But i like the mininalism of it. Reminds me of a track that I'm subconsciously judging it against.

I'd just really love it if the drums and melodysound glued together rather than the separation.

I think what i assume the verse parts feel a little droney... weird cause it reminds me of how my first beats used to be.

I like th3 idea tho and the main chorussy part without the hats. Nice.

@K9 TheRoyal at first i was like what's he talkimg west coast vibes? But then i was like ahhh nahhh ... west coast vibes! I hearing them.

I like that this sounds modern and current... but it also sounds like that back in the day chronic ish. That's a dope blend my guy

You needto find the modern day Dr Dre (rapper) or Ice cube or someone.

  • @2GooD Productions : I hear more of just hip hop on “Twinkly Trap” but I think the overall melody and harmony is good. Mix needs some work as the drums are a little too far in the back in my opinion.
I like the second beat “Hit N Run” as I think the sample works pretty well with the ke and synth that you added to the beat. Good job
  • @Marc Duncan : I like the mix of this. the structure, the cracky vinyl sound and the melodies. Nice beat
  • @Memento Beats : I like the structure and mix of this beat, I also like the 808 patterns. No complaints here
  • @prodbeto : Like someone said before, great drum work on this. The intro with the strings seems a little long but that might just be my personal taste. The strings are arranged very well and are all playing interesting, contrapuntal melodies. Great work, especially for only the second beat that you’ve published
  • @Khaly Beatz : The first one definitely sounds like a Tyga type beat, reminds me of Rack City. I like the lead instrument that you used during what I guess is the hook of the beat. Great mix too.
For the second one I don’t listen to Machine Gun Kelly enough to know what the beats that he uses sound like but I like the beat. It was also mixed and structured really well
Here are my two beats this week:

I played the nylon string guitar that you hear during the hook on this, but the rest is a sample and synths

This is all sample and synths

Love it. Great job on the Drums and melody, Mix and Mastering is on point too. Personally I don't think the Atlan synth is the best synth you could have picked. I think a wind instrument would have worked abit better. Otherwise great beat Momento.

Thanks a lot :D I think that you have very acute ear for sounds. :D I don't think I would be able to recognise particular synth someone used to make beats. Maybe sometimes but to be honest with you I don't analyse music so deeply. So I really appreciate and you have my props for that Atlan :D

Tyga Beat- I like the melody and sound of that quasi vocal sound a lot. :D Nice 808, nice rolls on kicks. Things that could be done better is the sound of that open hihat as it's too crispy for me and maybe in terms arrangement you could play with more variations maybe put grossbeat on the piano or alter melody it's playing. But other than that I like it. :) It's a decent trap beat.

Machine Gun Kelly Type Beat- I don't think that MGK is the best classification for this beat. But let's leave that. I like the arrangement here. It's much better in my opinion than in Tyga Beat. I like that sound that appears in the background around 0:45. Nice hihat work, drums are on point. Nice distorted 808. It fits the beat well in my opinion. Again what I don't like much is the open hihat. Aside from that it's nice beat but as I said I don't think that it's typical MGK beat. Maybe from the earlier period because now when you hear his songs it revolves around rock beats or emotional trap beats with guitars. Overall, good job :D Keep banging :)

@OGBama Finally, we can listen something from you! :D It's nice to hear your voice.

@prodbeto Thank you for kind words. :) As you probably know, there's not such things as right or wrong in music. If it sounds good, it sounds good no matter how you got there and whether you broke some rules while doing it or not. My process of mixing/mastering is very simple as I have to admit I don't use any fancy plugins nor am I expert in mixing and sound design. Basically I do the following things:

1. I start with the melody 99,99% of times. When I have all the melodies set I add snares/clap, then I work on hihats and I like to spend a lot of time composing hihats. It may sound weird but I find the process of making hihats very relaxing and I enjoy playing with them. Yeah, call me nerd hahahaha :D Next, I add crashes/open hihats usually I do it every four bars. Then I either add bass/808 or kick it depends on what I feel like doing first.

2. Arrangement. Usually when I make beats like "Comfortable Life" (So when I have a rapper in mind and I have to leave a space for him) I play with different loops I created. Usually what I do is I create like three or four loops and I just try to vary and alter them in different ways. I split these patterns I created by channels and I just rearrange them. So I take part that I had in Pattern 2 and I mix it with Pattern 4. Next for example I put Grossbeat with 1/2 time on one of them, I try to remove drums from parts or certain elements in them. For example I have 8 bars when I have kick, snare and fast hihats so in the next 8 bars I may remove hihats for example. You get idea.

3. Once I have my beat composed I turn all the channels to around -18dB point on the mixer. I turn the volume level on my interface all the way up and then I start mixing it. Of course when it comes to EQ and other effects I use I do it mostly in step 1 and 2 but my EQ is very simple I just try to separate frequencies so they don't clash together and sometimes I boost some frequencies in some plugins. But it's all very very simple. Usually my beats sound the way I sound because of the right sound selection and this is something that I cannot give any advice on as it's very individual thing in my opinion. What sounds good to me may not sound good to you. I just try to mix the right sounds together. I'm not good at sound design so most of the time I just use presets. Sometimes I alter a few things in them but really these are pretty straightforward things like reducing or turning off delays in some of them, or reducing release etc. Also when it comes to plugins I use FL Studio stock plugins to mix and I my most frequently used plugins are Parametric EQ2, Reverb2, Fruity Filter, GrossBeat, Fruity Bloody Overdrive, Maximus, Fruity Limiter. And that's it. As you probably noticed there are almost no compressors hahaha :D It's because I generally make everything hit the way it hits by the right leveling. So in this step I try to expose all the elements of my beat so that they are clearly audible to the listener. Usually I turn up the volume on drums and 808/bass and basically I do everything up to my taste. If it sounds good to me after a few adjustments then I'm happy with it and I think I have enough experience and I have heard enough amount of music to differentiate good things from bad things. :D Also very important thing is to sidechain a channel with a kick drum to 808 and do sidechain compression so that 808 ducks everytime the kick hits. I also try to keep the peak on the master channel around -9dB so that I have a lot of room for mastering and making it loud which I'm very good at if you ask other members of the forum hhahahaha :D As some people say they heard my beats in the process of making banging across the Europe XDDDDDD. But I only do it to strictly instrumental beats with no artist in mind. If I make a beat for a rapper usually those beats are much quiter than my typical hybrid trap productions. Also the process of making such beats is different and step 2 is much more expanded. Also it's good to follow @2GooD Productions tip with keeping the level around -3dB but it all depend on the track because every mix is different.

Once I've done all of that I move to "mastering". I put it in quotation because I know that it's not like a real mastering in my opinion. I reduce the volume on my interface to the previous level and I always keep it in the middle. So the first plugin I put on the master track is Parametric EQ2 and I choose a preset that is called 18Hz-20000 Hz cut which basically cuts off everything below 18 Hz and above 20k Hz. These are frequencies that are not audible to any human and they clutter the mix so it's good to remove them. Next I add Maximus to do multiband compression and then I make things louder.

I hope these tips are helpful to all of you and I will treat it as a feedback to all of you because my response is already very long :D .
