Still regarding sampling

I was planning with the same in mind. Not that I even have the time or space for it. If I do tho. Probably get knocked out but some shit poorly made shit mixed beat in R2.
I checked when last years one was and it's in September, got 2 months to get ready. More than enough time

For this year's Battle That champ, I will fly to his house and give him an oily massage.
Better buy in bulk now, Diddy will be free soon so prices will go through the roof. Supply and demand, Economics 101. Might be a good time to buy shares in Johnson and Johnson.

Anyone who says sampling is cheating or easy has never made a high quality beat using a sample.

Name your top 10 favourite hip hop beats. They're sampled. AND they're fucking awesone. Listen to the original sample. Now you're familiar with it, it seems obvious and sticks out - but before you knew it, that dude has just sampled 3 seconds of a jazz piece with a billion notes. Some records give you a few samples, some are like goldmines, some have 1 maybe 2 bits that might fit. Most dudes will abandon or lay down those records without sampling.

The real masters finding a 2 second piano bit 12 minutes 36 seconds in to a 16 minute jazz piece. You blink, you miss it. MOST people miss it. In fact just about everyone misses it. That dude heard it though...

That "Doo-da-doo-da-doo-da-doo" bit

That's sampling.

Sometimes I browse https://www.whosampled.com to check out some of my favourite songs and it's crazy how a lot of those samples were flipped. There's some that are just straight up loops, but the ones that were chopped up and layered are crazy.

It's amazing what you can come up with when working with a challenging sample. Ones that force you to chop them up to come up with something that loops smoothly. That's why I take part in most of the sampleflips, to be forced to chop and rearrange stuff because I can be lazy and just listen out for a loop

I was always inspired by the Bomb Squad because they layered so much shit, even tiny bits. So I take that and try to do my own version of that. That's why I love grabbing little pieces rather than a loop. Sometimes I find a loop that's dope but I feel like I'm cheating in a way, but if it's dope it's dope.

You don't have to make your life hard all the time, sometimes a sample is hard to work with so have no choice, but if its already dope why fuck it up?

There are times when it's not easy, and it's either cause the sample isn't ideal for typical flip or for how I intended it.
Been a few times I've heard a dope sample and think it will be easy, then realise it's some 3/4 time signature and it's hard as fuck to make work
Or even 5/4 like Tubular Bells

That's when you take the sample and make it your bitch. Make it work with 4/4 whether it likes it or not.

I've thrown some around the room until they comply, but some are stubborn fuckers and just keep telling me to fuck off no matter how many times I kick them in the nuts
