Check out the fight: https://www.illmuzik.com/beat-fights/fight/374/
Good one mate: the beat is cool, that vocal layer, the scratches, everything works creatively, but in my headphones, it sounds a bit distorted and over-compressed. (I'm not saying this for the fight, because I think a good piece can win even if it's recorded poorly compared to a bad piece recorded well and morover even my beat is not so well mastered).hey @dmh2deep I told you that I would take the whole week, and instead... it probably would have been better if I had taken more time. Anyway, good luck! Now let me listen what you made...
Ah, I just realized that the 'fumando marijuana' shouldn't have been like that; I accidentally turned some off, as usual, loaded without checkingGood one mate: the beat is cool, that vocal layer, the scratches, everything works creatively, but in my headphones, it sounds a bit distorted and over-compressed. I appreciate it! And yes I agree I think I was too focused on making the drums stand out instead of just getting a solid full sounding mix, it definitely ended up coming out pretty thin. Your beat was a heater as to be expected. Thanks again for humoring me, and sorry about the poorly timed request lolGood one mate: the beat is cool, that vocal layer, the scratches, everything works creatively, but in my headphones, it sounds a bit distorted and over-compressed. A very strong first entry from @dmh2deepDamnnn @attila that beat is sick, I just love the vibe of the way you produce. The textures are really compelling it makes it hard to stop listening. I definitely felt like I was getting pleasantly surprised every few bars and the drums fit the whole feeling really well. I knew you would come with the heat and make my first battle a tough one, thanks for accepting!!
Same thoughts about drums and sample. Thanks, now, no doubts.@dmh2deep
Great to see you jumping right in and getting a Beat Fight going! This beat has some great energy and the sample choice is good. Just a heads up 'Beat This' and 'Warzone' battles are 2 minute time limits - which tends to be a good length for a battle. It allows you to throw in some variations and change-ups...nothing wrong with a shorter beat, but you also want to showcase your work as best possible. There's a lot of cool stuff going on here. The swing on the drums is great and I do like me some scratches. Kinda to the longer length idea, spacing these elements out would serve to let each element have their time to shine and add to the overall beat. Right now, the scratches are kinda stepping on the swung kicks. Otherwise, this is cool. I like the filter sweeps and fades. Micro-chops are my style of sampling so I appreciate that mid 2000s style!
@attila
I like the combination of the glide synth and bells/mallets. I think the drums could've hit a bit harder, but they serve the beat well. What you did really well here were the atmospheric FX and one-shots. The risers, reverbs on crashes, impacts - they all add a extra depth to the beat. I'd drop the 'marijuana' vocals personally, but the other vocal sample is cool and I like how it serves as a bridge into the chill back half.
For sure I hadda get one in real quick and show y’all what I got going on lol. Definitely some good points that Im gonna keep in mind for the upcoming Warzone and future beat fights. Thanks for the feedback!@dmh2deep
