The final round was really tough to vote on, both beats were on point. I preferred the mixing of @2GooD Productions though, but @Bandia Gotach's beat hit hard. Dope shit.

Congrats on the well deserved W @2GooD Productions those vocal chops really do make your craft stand out IMO (but not only that). Big props to @Bandia Gotach too, the battle was fun and overall of very high quality.

I did really try my best this year, despite my attention span with music production these days, it still worked out. I really didn't think Id get past round 1, really like @Stan1 beat. With a little bit of mixing polish that would be a great beat for a dancer to work with. I thought it was great in its simplicity. Even went to bed thinking my Battle That was over.
Was really impressed with @Bandia Gotach throughout the competition, I really like those dark beats.
My favourite bracket in the battle was @BiggChev vs @Armani , both really dope beats. Armani got my vote despite a little click on the kick, the whole vibe of the beat was brilliant

Round 1:
@attila - I really liked the bluesy, 70s cop drama, vibe of this. Bringing in the vocals with the stutter effect was a cool rhythmic touch! While I liked the drums (sound, sonics, and groove) I did think it felt a bit disjointed. My personal tastes leans more towards steady, hypnotic, even predictable grooves. The glitchy breakdown into the bluesy finish was a nice touch too! I think maximizing the full 4 minute limit, would've served to let each section shine and transition more organically. It felt like you had 3 solid ideas for this and tried to get them all in as quickly as possible.
@Bandia Gotach - My first observation is the mix. I can't recall the last beat of yours I've heard, but I think there is a marked improvement in your mixes. It feels brighter, more spacious, without compromising your innately 'dark' and 'moody vibe. Sound selection on this great. Pianos and strings always go well together, and you did a great job of letting them each shine while also blending them together. The pizzicato strings, against that swelling synth has soo much weight and movement - then that beautiful violin line! God damn!!! Another thing to note - you went for more traditionally "boom bap" drums. While I think your usual style of drums would serve this beat well, I quite liked the foundation the bap drums had - especially the little interjections with the filtered breaks. Well done!!
@Leopard Cohen - I imagine you're like a substitute philosophy teacher who's hobby is collecting traditional percussion instruments from isolated tribes lol. "Jab" is a little demon/devil in Caribbean folklore; and the percussion fits that contextually. As always very creative, intellectual, thoughtful and well put together. The only way I can think to describe this (and a lot of your work) is by comparing it to the finish on hand crafted goods. There are no 'seams' to this. The end product has flawless finish and flows smoothly from start to end. Again, maybe a bit too abstract for this crowd - but as always, appreciate you not letting that stop you from showing off your dope music!
@Iron Keys - Big soulful organs! Great way to open a track. The vocals and keys fit very nicely! I like how you used them as 'tails' to the phrasing. Actually there's some other clever phrasing. Sneaking in claps, and using the tails in general to lead into the next section. This has a slower more meditative pace than most beats I've heard from you - which is nice. I'm curious though, was it deliberate to work at this BPM? The reason I ask, the drums specifically the doubled up kicks, sound like you were trying to find a way to introduce some energy and 'pace.'
@KiloOnTheBeat - I'm not a fan of trap, or any of it's derivatives, but I can appreciate a well put together piece. Mix on this is really well done. I usually find 808s (in this genre) are fuck-off and distastefully loud or distorted - not the case here. I do like the pseudo industrial vibes and cinema score quality. In terms of the 'cinema score' vibe, this mostly drones, stabs, and soundscapes. While all the sounds work well together, and with the over arching vibe, I would've liked at least one melodic hook or anchor - something that I could hum along to. Otherwise, very well crafted
@Earsblower - love that drum fill in the intro! The kick on this has a great punch and weight. Cuts right through the mix and gives it a solid bounce and foundation. Arrangement is really good. The theme/vibe isn't quite my cup of tea, but not doubt this is well put together. I've mentioned before, but you have a great "ear" for little details and tucking things in nice and neatly into place. It sounds both effortless and incredibly well thought out.
@Hadoq - That walking bass line and the way it flows into the neo-soul vibe. Fucking smooth!! mix is nice and full, maybe a bit too hot for this vibe. A bit more laid back would serve the feel a lot more. My one point would be the 'meandering' feel of the beat. While that works for a neo-soul song, I'm not entirely sure it translates perfectly to a beat battle. Overall very smooth, and juicy!
@Bi4ocal - I'm a big fan of this type of sample and chop. There's a light and playful quality to it - reminds of the early 2000s when people were sampling nursery songs and TV show themes. Some more variation and a solid B-Section would help to preserve the novelty of the vocal sample. I also wasn't fan of the drums. Cool idea and creative sample choice!
@P.A.T. - Mannnnn, this was giving some NOLA/Mannie Fresh vibes. I don't think this could be appreciated fully without listening in a car with a banging system. Starting with high energy was definitely the right move for a battle. I like that you didn't burn us out on that energy and let it wax and wane organically. That string line at 0:40 is a great touch. THEN - you weaved everything together towards the end - great arrangement!
@Armani - I was genuinely confused as to who this beat belonged to lol. I lived through the rise and peak of Reggaeton, so I fucking hate it now lol. That said, mix is great, and you nailed ALL the hallmarks of that sound - particularly the 'pop' variety that was everywhere in the mid 2000s. You tucked in some subtle counter melodies to add some richness to the whole beat, which I appreciate. Structure and arrangement is great too! I feel like this is radio ready.
@2GooD Productions - Loving this 70s/Soul/Funk vibe! Mix is very nice. I've found, historically, your drums can be a bit TOO hard. NOt the case here. They serve the beat well and carry enough of the groove for the instrumentation to slide in to. Vocals, not really my jam. Great arrangement, and the structure allows from a smooth flow from one section to the next!
@Stan1 - This haunted doll house vibe, isn't my vibe, BUT this is one of the cleaner productions I've heard from you. That cheeky drop out with just the plucky string bit is great! I like that you had the drum mirror the rhythm of the instruments for a bit there. You lose me when it veers into the creepy carnival funhouse vibe. Appreciate the craft, just really not my jam.
@M.I.ndless - Yeah booyyyyy! These are some boom-bap drums. Made on the 404? That pensive, brooding piano line is really nice, and I would've liked to hear them a bit more prominent in the mix. I don't mean this in a bad, but this has that "SP 404 Beat Tape" quality to it - that doesn't quite lend itself to Battle That. By that, I mean that it sounds like: 1 sample, a few different patterns, some foley sounds/SFX, that's tied together by FX rather than structure and arrangement. Really dope beat, and something I'd certainly listen to - but I think for Battle That, a bit more intent would really take this beat the next level.
@DJ Excellence - 2025 Champ out in the first round? Shit luck bro. I think you just went too abstract here. Sounds like you and @Leopard Cohen speed battling at Star Trek themed 3D chess lol. I really like the live drummer feel, but not so much anything else around it. The background drones and soundscapes have a dissonance that takes me out of it.
