Not new but I haven't been on this site in a good minute. Been kinda busy finishin college and playing for various bands (other than school that's what I do for a living.) I think I'm gonna start comin here again though I got a lot of useful info on mixing sampling and just about everything...
I give hip-hop about 6-10 more years in the mainstream a lot of the mainstream Rap is club music there's more focus on a simplistic track and a hook than anything. You have Dancehall becoming popular I think soon there will be no need for verses all that will be needed is a hook and a danceable...
Damn Stress I got friends who use coke it doesn't seem like the type of high I'd like, they just start talkin nonstop and actin crazy. I got coke all over my arm once and my arm was numb for hours. To each his own though I geuss it won't kill you and isn't addictive if done in moderation. As...
I have all of The Roots albums except organix. All there albums are bangin except for Phrenology on which you could tell they were goin for comercial apeal. I'll take ya'lls word for it and buy the album, but I'm kind of scared this album's gonna be kinda like Phrenology
A lot of times I'll use preset drums first then sample drum sounds later and fill those in because I don't want to lose Ideas. I have a couple of drumsets so sometimes I'll sample snares bassdrums hi hats from my set and use that in tracks but it takes me a while to get the samples to sound...
Drums don't always need to be compressed I only compress when I'm looking for a certain sound a lot of times eq will work, but compression is kinda confusing to me too I have a lot to learn about compression.
yeah Slum is tight why did Jay Dee leave? I think Kareem Riggins is doin most of the tracks now. Didn't hear their new album yet but Fantastic Vol. 1 and 2 is off tha hook.
I'm not suprised the industry is fucked up right now the thing is this album will probly go platinum MTV will probly make a show about it or sumthin there's no hope for these major labels thats why the music industry is in recession now.
Yeah Bill was speakin some facts he did give statistics and stuff but he gave no solution anyone can point out a problem you can look at the news and see what the problems in the black community are. He was right about a lot of things but what is he gonna do to try to change things. Also...
I don't think eblue was comparing the two as forms of of music but more comparing the two in it's history. If you compare the history, hip-hop is a lot like jazz during the bebop time you also had artists like Louis jordan who's music was still considered jazz but was the beggining of R&B, and...
Yeah Cannibus is one of the best lyrically but he's not gonna be able to sell to the mainstream he just won't sound right over a club track. Plus Canibus is horrible at choosing tracks. He said in an interview he'll rhyme over anything and he can't tell whether a beat is hot or not. Somebody...
If you look at what most record producers did in the past it was very different than what a producer does today a lot of the producers didn't play any instruments on the album some were song writers some weren't basicaly their job was to hire the best musicians for the job hire arrangers...
Yeah Jay Yahzarah's the shit all my boy's from Howard are in her band she's on the rise. That was a good article with Dre it's good that he's as open minded as he is. not too many producers can rise above all the industry bullshit. He could easily just sit back make mediocre tracks and still...
