    What Motivates You

There are many motivating factors... a message I want to get out, not wanting others to think i'm laxing in my game, competition from other catz doin the same thing, other artists, everyday experiences, struggles, breaking out of this 9-5 bullshit, and sometimes I just need something to take my...

Recording the beat to CD and taking to the car, putting it in the CD player, and lettin the shit bump! Even better is taking it to a spot that'll play your stuff, like if you got a good dance tune, and hearing your shit come through the speakers and everybody's bobbin they heads or dancin to it...

Production RECORDING VOCALS -- Drop ur techniques and tips!

lay down the 1st vocal track as a 'motivator', then have the mc spit the verse again on another track. Hearing the first track while spittin will hype the artist, and if the artist is feelin it, the listener will feel it also. Delete the 1st take. Double up on the remaining verse, making an...

    Guess It's about that time.

if possible go to school for some sound engineering shit and learn as much as you can in what you want to do... even if shit don't work out you still got the option of working in a studio, plus artists are coming and going all the tme so you could network there also.

What sequencer have you completely mastered???

Yamaha RM1X, midi sync'd to a sp500 to throw in the samples. Once I have an instrumental I record to cooledit for vocals and mixing down. I'm ready to get some new equipment though, cuz I got these machines thoroughly mastered. One of the dudes in my crew just got a MV8000 so I've been...

What's the worst wound you ever received?

4 plates in the face. 2 on the corners of both eyebrows, (the bone underneath is still jagged here) 1 under the left eye and 1 by my right nostril. Dislocated upper mandible which resulted in the wiring shut of my jaw. Head-on collision that was no fault of my own.

What other kinds of music do you listen to ?

Aside from Hip-Hop I really get into experimental/electronic and tekno, d'n'b... a few examples would be Delerium, Aphex Twin, Autechre'... Rubixx, Psychic TV... Portishead. Pigface. Depending on the mood and environment nothing can be more perfect than hearing the right music.

    Buisness Question

There are a few people around Columbus, Oh. that had an interest in purchasing my beats as well, and the way I had thought about doing it was this; send your music to the library of Congress and copyright it. You can print the forms off of the web and all of the instructions are there...

You sold your beat to a Hip Hop artists....

There's nothing wrong gettin paid doing what U luv to do. We gotta survive. But yeah I'd have to hear the finished track... unless it was paid for up front. Even if the singer isnt very good people would be like 'the beat is ill but I don't like the vocals...' plus people would want to know...

    To all producers

If Dre stole my beat I would feel honored. I mean shit it just got stolen so I'd have to think as positive as possible. Then I'd make another one just as good or if not better, eventually. But, overall, I WOULD BE PISSED!

    One or many hit wonders?

Lauryn Hill is definately one of the best. I was just listening to the Fugeez today and admiring her skill as an emcee and vocalist. Such an artist I dont think could ever just 'quit', even if we never heard another album from her again (though I'm sure we will). Lets say K.O. you retire from...
