I'm still not able to get sound out of my Motif Rack when I trigger it in FL.
Here's a list of my MIDI Settings:
Output:Lexicon Mac USB Sync (faded text) Port 1
Input: Akai MPD32

When I open a MIDI Out Channel, and I set the Port to 1, and I click on the keys, the levels on my Lexicon go up, but no sound comes out of the speakers.

About the other MIDI cable running through, I had this same exact set up as with my other built in soundcard with my desktop. I was able to trigger the Motif Sounds with just the MIDI In and Audio Outs of my Motif connected to my soundcard.

That's how I have it set up as of now. MIDI Out from the interface going to the MIDI In of the Motif, and the Audio Outs of the Motif going to Line 1 and 2 of the interface. Did I buy the Rack from sweetwater? No, got it from a local guitar center.

I checked the Cubase website and downloaded the new patches but it still isn't working. I'm starting to think it's Vista...-_-. Also the Syncrosoft License Control that is installed with the patch doesn't work for some reason.

Your motif doesn't happen to have a USB plug on it does it? If not it did NOT work both ways in your old set up. With one cable you can either play sounds in FL on the motif keys or you can trigger sounds on the motif. But maybe a USB cable was taking the part of the midi cables?

Just for clarification, the motif is a rack. I'm using my Keystation MIDI Controller to try and trigger the sounds in FL. The Motif does have a USB slot, but I never used it.

The way I had my old set up was that I had my Keystation connected to my computer through USB. My Motif Rack was connected to my EMU soundcard using one MIDI cable and two Audio outputs and it worked fine, but isn't working for some reason right now.

Plus this Cubase LE installion is pissing me off. The LCC keeps failing to open after I have installed it which is the reason why the Cubase won't work....sigh...

Couple things, buy from sweetwater from now on you can call them for help with this stuff. With GC you are on your own.

second got it yea midi out of interface to in on motif. Cool

Route the midi track output in FL to the midi out on your new interface. Then make sure you have a sound on the corresponding midi channel in the motif. Or just set everything to omni to test it out.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, I'll try this out a tomorrow, just messed with some sampletank sounds and put down the basics for a new beat that I like. I don't want to get frustrated again.

BTW lol I looked at your sig. I'm thinking of getting a new laptop for music, maybe some video editing, and school. I was thinking of getting a Macbook Pro but I just wanted to run it by someone as yourself first. Also with the Macbook Pro, I heard that you can't use FL Studio on it which is the only program that I know how to use. Just something to keep in mind. What would you recommend?

BTW sorry for all these questions haha. mb!

well if FL is your main program then dont get a mac. But if you want to use Logic or Digital Performer then a mac is the only way to go. Personally I love macs and am not a huge PC fan. But I think you should pick your software first and platform second. So if you do get a mac it may be time to get something like Reason. But I usually don't recommend people change programs just for the sake of change. If you really know FL stick with it.

i'm not really computer savy. What's a VM?

also good news, got the rack to work with FL. :D
Still didn't get the Cubase LE that came with my Audio Interface to open up on my computer though. The License Control Center is retarded. I've reinstalled it like 5 times already. When it finishes, I check the box saying "Open Licence Control Center" and then click finish, but immediately after that, an error comes up saying that LCC has stopped working and it does this every time I try and open LCC.

I'm willing to try out Reason, I've heard good things about it. I just need to find myself a free version...:D

a vm is sort of like running an OS in an OS. not really the best setup, but there are applications that support it :p

VM stands for virtual machine and running hard core audio apps that way totally sucks! Can I ask why you are so worried about getting cubase running? I didn't think you use it anyway? As far as switching to Reason IDK, I personally am a HUGE reason fan and wrok 99% in that program these days but FL is really powerful and if you know how to use it then it is tough to switch to something else just because your brain gets working in a certain way.
