yeah i usually like to use this technique:
i take a kick and another one of the same kick. i play the first one at normal pitch and volume. the 2nd one i either pitch it up or down depending on what im trying to do ...i mess with the second kick's pitch till i get something i like and i layer...
Yo Man Sample Into That Joint Isnt It A Sampler? Sample Some Old Records , Drum Breaks, Anything U Can Get Your Hands On Chop Them, Layer Them , Add Effects And Make Your Own Kits.

You should have just one disk for your pc to transfer files from the computer to the mpc. Do not use the same disk on the pc and the mpc because the computer seems to mess up files that way . that may be the problem you are having try it out.
We have a couple of tascam us-122's over at school and we use them on laptopsn with celeron processors and they do find. We record the vocals into cubase and then add the effects later. That maybe the problem the plug-ins , so i suggest you just do the recording and save it and then come back to...

i got the fruity loop engine which is all you really need anyway thats what you pay for.... all u got to do is download the demo off the site and put that engine into the fruityloop folder and it gives ya the full version of it.
