    Wolverine Trailor

i think it's from the recent origins mini they came out with to finally give him a solid origin, plus the weapon x history, not the mini by miller that had him getting his main chica back in japan (chocha is a powerful thing) i remember long time ago, one of the xmen artist, the one...

    myspace sound qualitity question

mixing and mastering with lossy format in mind is a good idea as the cd shelf life is approaching, upconvert before processing the original tracks, maybe a little more air to compensate for the 16k drop, less compression, etc and 2 separate mixes (or more), one for lossy and the net. myspace...

    myspace sound qualitity question

well first thing, mp3's, aac, streaming, lossy etc should be mixed differently. meaning taking the drop at 16khz in account, as well a,s the other issues, simply converting really isn't enough but adequate and less time consuming. but as far as myspace, they degrade the conversion apparently and...

Pro Tools Makes me want to shoot myself in the F$%king Head!

yup, i do make a living and though i own and know pt i don't use it at my work, it's logic, which i had to learn real quick. more and more studios have different apps/daws. maybe pt is the standard where you are but it isn't set in stone in many places. and again, the ability to work fast...

    Mixing Software

you don't need nuendo, cubase is the same thing without some surround/film stuff. some good choices are cubase, logic (mac), pt (mpowered/le), sonar and probably the best in built/1st party fx from jump, samplitude. they all (except pt) have lighter less expensive versions that are still...

Pro Tools Makes me want to shoot myself in the F$%king Head!

you don't need a pt cert, there are more medium-small studios than large ones, and pt isn't necessary, but knowing the basics and shortcuts of any daw is the most important if you're looking to be an engineer in someones studio (if you can get in, that is). speed and competency (and the...

    Euro 08 anybody?

it's been quiet over here the last couple of days which means italy and portugal lost. +1 for my sanity and ears. if i have to support any team from europe it's usually been netherlands, with a few cheers for france (and a cheer for the hooligans). netherlands is one of the biggest chokers in...

    Internship!

it wreaks of work-for-hire and that should be separate from an internship. the choice is ultimately yours but giving up your copyright for possible connections and experience doesn't seem like a fair trade or compensation. if you choose to accept, get a written contract, have a lawyer look at it...

16 Bit And 24 Bit Samples

it's important, a) the amount of dynamic range and b) when you bounce down to 16 bit, a dithering process should be taken and dithering 16 bit's to 16 bit's is something to be avoided. i can't say for sure but you may be making the comp and/or the program work a little more harder due to the...

My Lab , help me redo it..

anything put on the wall should be not directly on the wall but some airspace between it and the wall (i.e. 5 inches suspended by something. that way it actually does somewhat what it's supposed to do. carpet can be problematic, if you have the time google absorption coefficients to get just a...

Rebranding an artist to make $$$- real life example of artists signed to Interscope.

it's an old concept, shit, baby boomer classics and motown classics have been made in this fashion. nothing inherently wrong with taking 2 or more of the roster that isn't working but you like and try to get them together and see if there's chemistry either as a group or as a writing/production...

    Pro Tools Import Help

^^^ well in 7 it's not an extra option as long as you have quicktime installed, meaning they finally got around to offering a basic mp3 import option in 7, typical of digi. the fact that you have to pay for mp3 export even now shows their slowness and greed. mp3 export (+import in your's and...

    Pro Tools Import Help

it will convert and you don't need the mp3 option (that's to bounce to an mp3). for your wav files try dropping it on to a track (stereo into stereo tracks) and see what happens. also try to import to the region list if it still doesn't work and make sure the bit and sampler rate is approved.

Changing Volume On Just The Selected Part of The Track???

you can automate volume changes so it's more natural same with fades as it will be non destructive. you could use an audiosuite at that point but change the gain but i would prefer to automate personally. to use the gain highlight the section you want go into audiosuite and search for 'gain' (if...

    Favorite Plug ins (not instruments)

i've been effin' around with a few wicked plug ins of late, bx digital and flux plug ins. bx digital is basically a mastering eq, allowing you to eq the mid (mono) and side (stereo) independently and make a certain frequency, i.e. 80Hz and under, mono so the stereo field doesn't thin it out...
