but you do know if it sounds good to you or not. personally, i just mimic what sounds good to me. short of me being in a space specifically built for mixing from the ground up, that's really all i can do. and you can get pretty good results working that way, IMO. but that's just my .02 -

i say, don't buy anything. just listen to a cd that you're very familiar with and you like the sounds of (i use chronic 2001), and make your stuff sound like that. that's if you're trying to get a better mix. if not, forget what i just said. lol. -

EXACTLY!!! i can't tell you how many times i've had people come through and go crazy over a track that i thought was a piece of shit. for that reason alone, i've stopped trashing tracks, even if i KNOW that they are gahbage. -
