Help- i need a specific conga sound, and help modulating a patch
how about getting an inhouse musician to record from? I mean, you get paid for this so it should be worth the effort to rent a good tube mic and pay a musician for 30 minutes of material. A good boost to your library aswell when recorded correctly.- Formant024

EMU sound cards
They had problems with the dsp-vst utilities but theyre still top notch cards, I mean 24bit 192kHz and 120dB SNR ( output in dB untill THD comes in ) for 99 bucks is still the cheapest you can get. If you want the pristine EMU then go for the M models with PT converters.- Formant024

why do people "Gate" their drums?
You create more headroom with a gate on the drums, hiphop specificly is mostly dry drums with very little reverbs. In that you have more headroom giving the rest in the mix more definition.- Formant024

I dont know what you're saying, but if you want to rock more hardware than logic is actualy the way to go. I have 2 mpc's hooked to logic, along with samplers, hardware fx ( that have midi which is pretty much all of em after 1985 ) recorders and even a 606 via a drumstation. filtering?
Use filters as Eq, dent out a bit of mid for vocals with notch filters for example. HP on percussion loops for more headroom on the two step breaks or whatevers... Wee bitty of reso on dull snare samples.... That kind of stuff...- Formant024
