    Even when composing I tend to stick to 4 or 8 bar loops so that the end result resembles hip hop. A lot of the variation comes from drum variation, or other 4 bar loops that I compose that come in and drop out for progression and to keep things interesting throughout

Like with the Kill Till I Die one, I had to stem rip it to make sure I could make it more my own and not just chop and rearrange the sample and just adding some drums and some bass.     Well it works for me. Don't let people tell you what you should and shouldn't do, there are no real rules, just guidelines. If a 4 bar loop is a dope basis for a beat, use it.
