    Beat This! Competition - November 29-30, 2023

I've commented a few times too where I prefer theme/sample battles. I think it's good because it gives everyone the same time/creative constraints.

Music keeps me balanced. The 2-3 hours/day of zoning out has been keeping me regulated. I think I'm mental.

I didn't vote because it came down to a few and honestly I felt like they all deserved a vote. Tough when you can only vote for one!

little turd > big diarrhea though. I'm actually still very surprised by the lack of swing in new hip-hop.

Mister Fade, I had to reupload my file but I put REUPLOADED in the file name to distinguish the one to use. :eggplant: p.s. no particular reason for the eggplant.

I think I’m gonna ditch my mpc 2500 for Koala

I think my ADHD benefits from a lot going on. The beat I just submitted I actually made in like 4-5 different 20-30 min sessions, to include chopping some samples on my phone via a wav editor app I found haha.

I'm still working through initiation and trying to get out of Fade's basement, he said I can get out when I win a battle. It's all good though, we've been doing this thing, where, well it's hard to type out and explain. But he calls it "Polishing Mister Fade's shoes."

I think I’m gonna ditch my mpc 2500 for Koala

That's what I do right now in FL. Chop in Edison and time stretch right in the playlist. But I'm looking for something where I can snag a loop I like, save it down to a Google Drive, and then when I'm able to sit and work at my desk/DAW load up what I chopped and fine tune as needed. Right now I...

Do you think Koala could be a good tool to chop samples on the fly? I've been looking for a wav editor or something to chop samples on my phone/tablet whenever I'm listening to music throughout the day and find something I want to flip.

Stop using reverb on your snare.

What's the difference between using a freq splitter vs. a high pass curve at 150Hz? I can play around with some sounds later to experiment too but genuinely curious to get folks thoughts on this as I keep tinkering and learning.

Stop using reverb on your snare.

I haven't done this but I'll usually EQ the reverb BUS.

    Is my name cool?

I was called floppy for a bit when I was around 14 yo. Friend of mine peeked through the window when I was about to get my first BJ and saw me when I had a semi. Could be a great time to bring it back.

    Is my name cool?

I'm learning so much, I guess I had it backwards the whole time. No wonder why folks never respond to my DMs over there.

when it comes to dusty boners, I prefer exclusive rights. but I'm open to a negotiation.

    Sticky Show Your Setup!

Cheers, I'll jot those down whenever I'm shopping for a pair. Eventually I plan to mount a pair wide in the corner of the room. If I did a pano of my office, you'll see it's all windows and I'll never get proper acoustics without killing the vibe of the room, hence my decision to go with...

    I'll borrow someone's dusty boner.

    Sticky Show Your Setup!

Yeah, I do. Those are the JBL 104 BT which are pretty good if you just want a pair of reference speakers that won't break the bank. I also use a pair Sennheisser HD 400 PRO and Audio-Technica M20x headphones, alongside the HoRNet VHS headphone correction VST.
